<<"Oh, shards, it seems like a Goldflight's started." He looked about the
room, making sure he had everything, and back towards her door. "I'll
get out of here then. I wouldn't want something regrettable to happen
just because of the influence of dragon hormones. Uhm..." T'val opened
the door to see two boys outside, one - Rymeron - he recognized by face,
but the other he didn't know. It seemed to him they were predators
circling a choice kill before the poor lamb was even dead. "Do you want
me to, uh, stand guard or something?" His voice cracked the slightest
bit at the pressure he was exerting on controlling himself. "I don't
have anywhere else to be, restrictions and all that.">>
Anomi had been really glad that T'val had come to check up on her, and the gold firelizard egg she was still somewhat shellshocked about receiving. It was really sweet of him. She'd met lots of kind, generous people since arriving at Eastern, and it was almost startling how many of them were *male.* Before coming here, she'd thought all Southern-born boys were, well...
A strange sensation coursed through her just as T'val said the goldflight was starting. Anomi glanced at T'val, her brow furrowed with confusion. Why should the goldflight starting mean he had to -
Oh wait. Oh. *Oh.*
Panic flared through her briefly, but she hastily reminded herself, no no, he'd just said he was leaving, he was a nice person and he was going to leave and not force himself on her.
And then he opened the door, and she saw Rymeron and Ozmyr, and why on Pern were they hovering right outside the door -
Goldflight.
Southern-born boys. Trapping her.
Anomi went dead white.
"P-please," she whispered, "please... please leave me alone! Go away!" She turned eyes that were quickly filling with tears to T'val, nodding frantically in answer to his question. T'val said he was leaving the room, and he was going to stand guard, and protect her. She could trust T'val, right? "D-don't... don't let them in here, please," she whimpered. She hugged the pot with her firelizard egg in it close against her chest, as if holding on to it would ward off danger.
For the first time since arriving at Eastern Weyr, she really, really wished Mikloran would just magically appear. She knew *he* would protect her - K'lor too, but he was in seclusion and couldn't - but T'val was saying he would stand guard (outside! outside the room!), so... so he'd protect her, right?
