Today we found a Common Poorwill in Mono Co. at the spring east of the big
corrals a few miles out from Nik & Nik ponds. This spring has a nice pond
with cottonwood overhead and is fenced in but the fences are not keeping bovines
out. In flight the poorwill was rich rufous-brown with white trailing patches in
the tailtips. Other migrants are at this spot also but nothing extraordinary.
