February 2012
“Our vision is to be a ministry of eternal significance that impacts the cause of Christ through the advancement and multiplication of His churches.”
Preparing for Summer Group
Missy and I visited the Gede Primary School and School for special needs children along with Pastors Daniel and Alphonse to ask their permission to bring our group in to minister this summer to the over 1600 students. We should have confirmation from them soon.

Pastor Alphonse continues to see fruit for his labor as there were three more Baptisms this month in Magangani.

Progress on the Building in Jimba
We had a work day at Jimba and made a lot of progress on their building. It should be finished next month.

The Bourlands Need a Vehicle
We will need about $15,000 to get an appropriate vehicle. We are hoping to purchase it by June of this year. Please
pray for God’s provision of this need.
Taylor’s Furlough 2012
We completed another month on furlough and made our way back into Arkansas with our sending church Pauline BC. We had a great time crossing the country and the folks out west were amazing. We are actually past the midway point of furlough and are so ready to get back on the field. We love being with the churches here in the states but we miss the churches and brethren in Kenya as well. I am so grateful for the times that Brother Scott and I get to visit on the phone and hear of the work on the ground. We are so excited to see Brother Scott and Missy continuing to advance in their language and we can’t wait to get back and hear for ourselves the two of them ministering in Swahili!

MAMBO YA JAMii

Taylors
Well we finished our big 6 weeks out on the road. Although it was crazy and hectic at times, looking back it was really a great trip. God has given us some amazing kids that travel so well, making things much easier for James and me. I, on the other hand, have learned a lot about patience and organization. We didn't get as much school done as I had hoped, but the kids got some amazing hands on learning of geography, science, and history! I still think we can finish the school year before we return to Kenya.
Speaking of Kenya, I can officially say we are
READY to get back. All of the kids have said at different times that they
wanted to go home. The other day Josiah wasn't feeling well and said,
"Mama, I want to go home." I told him we would go to our hotel room
shortly. He said, "No, Mama, I want to go HOME home."
I then agreed. It will be nice to get back to where God has called us and where
we are settled. I am also happy to report that we will not be going back to Kenya
homeless! Our negotiations worked out with the landlord and we are all very
pleased at the outcome.
We are looking forward to getting back to Indiana to spend Easter with our families.
As our time winds down we will take advantage of our family time.
I don't want to neglect to say thank
you to all those who have allowed us to visit their churches or have hosted us
in their homes. Our kids have voted The Bakers' house as their favorite place
we visited! We have enjoyed the fellowship on the road so much! Thank you all!
Thanks for reading and praying!

As many of you may know I have been very sick this month, I have been to the doctor in Mombasa for some testing and medicines. I am feeling much better now, I do believe it is my Gallbladder, I am trying to do some diet changes to help. Thank you for all the prayers and please continue to pray for this situation.
Our family is great, all working and serving the Lord again! What an answer to prayer! Our baby boy celebrated his 21st birthday this month. I don’t know how he got that old so fast! Especially since Scott and I aren’t much older than that. Ha ha!
We have had a guest with us this month.
Katherine is from California, she is in Nairobi working with an
organization called HEART, she is a nutritionist. She
came to Malindi to have Swahili lessons with Gertrude. This has been a good
opportunity to help Gertrude earn extra income, which is the main reason we
agreed to let her stay with us. But we have really come to enjoy her company in
the process.
I finished writing and translating my
first book! Last week I was able to have S.S. class, at two different churches,
ALL in Swahili! What an amazing feeling of accomplishment this was, I have
missed teaching children so badly! They loved the book, as did Alphonse (the
pastor), he has even agreed to translate it into the
Giriama language! In just a matter of months this has went from a story in my
mind to an actual book that will soon be in three different languages, all I
can say to that is; what an awesome God! Please continue to pray for me as I am
writing and translating these books and S.S. materials, I have discovered a
great passion for the Swahili language and I am so blessed to be able to speak
it and to translate all the material I have accumulated over the years!
