Welcome to Princeton Homebrew's East Coast Yeasts Google Groups.  I like Google Groups because my ISP does not like me to send out massive mailings as it looks like spam to them.  This way, you have to sign-up to get the e-mails and make managing the ECY list easy.

The cost of small flat rate box to ship anywhere in the US priority mail is $9, the cost of medium flat rate box is $16.  I also get delivery confirmation numbers.  I pack the medium with free ice packs.  I do not see how anyone could do it cheaper and stay in business.  I drive to the Post Office and wait in line so I know I've done my best to see the yeast off.  After all, being a good homebrewer is knowing how properly cared for the yeast and make sure they are happy.

Since my study is what the sun does when it strikes dark colors, the UPS Brown Delivery trucks might as well be a crematorium for those who send yeasts that way.

Al and NIna used to send the yeast and bacteria for free to the people on the Burgundian Babble Belt....It just got too much for them to do, and I can see how much time, care and organization go into the shipping end of the business.  I'm just glad I have my own liquid yeast supplier that puts the same attention to detail in propagating the strains as the big yeast suppliers do.  And so far, everyone is quite satisfied with their product.
