heli dead on machine restart

Hi all

We have the heli_ewII module running pointing to the winston wave server. Normally this works fine, but when I reboot the machine, the heli module dies and is not restarted. I suspect this is because the winston wave server takes longer to get up and running than the heli module, and so the wave server is not ready when the heli module does its first request.

But the weird part is that in spite of having "restartMe" in the heli .desc file, the heli module is never restarted. It just stays dead.

I can probably address this by either manually restarting heli_ewII on reboots, or trying to delay the start of earthworm until after winston is up and going, but since startstop is supposed to restart things, I thought I would let you know.

thanks,
Philip

I think you nailed the problem. If the wave server is NOT ready, heli just dies. And we have also observed that it never comes up even with a properly configured heli_ewII.desc, statmgr.d files

Is the heliew not beating its heartbeat when it first starts? This should be an ready fix for ew7.7

Dear Paul

May I ask you who is developer of the sniffwave ?

I made attempt to do my new software for EW and I have some question about structure of the sniffwave.

Sergej

Dear Serge,

Many people have developed for sniffwave. What specifically do you wish to do?

Also, please start a separate thread for any discussions about sniffwave, this thread is devoted to heli_ew problems that Philip and Branden are concerned about.

Regards,

Paul
