Mr. Saunders: My compliments. It is time more people realized that the key to solving the housing crisis – wherever it exists – lies in reducing the profits realized from land speculation. That activity produces no wealth whatever – not one job - in any of the many activities involved building homes. Why are increasing home prices perceived by many to be a positive sign of economic well-being when, in fact, for young people beginning careers and starting families, that increasing cost is totally devastating!! We do not think increasing prices for food is “a good thing” – nor do we invite higher prices for computers – automobiles – medical services – as “good things”. The logic of reducing home costs as beneficial is self-evident. Tax the speculative values – to be used for community purposes by the very community which is responsible for creating the increasing values – and we have a logical and balanced equation. We also have more affordable housing. Good on ya,mate!!. Izzy Gliener
