Greetings from the Henry George Institute

I hope this finds you in good health and spirits!

Since 1971, the Henry George Institute has helped thousands of people, around the world, to understand basic economic principles. Our students learned that society need not accept the dismal tradeoffs of unemployment vs. inflation, or prosperity vs. the natural environment. They learned about real, workable solutions to our seemingly intractable social problems.

And they learned something else, which may even be more important: that meaningful economic understanding is available to ANY thinking person — regardless of their lack of "schooling."

As an educational organization, the Henry George Institute is unique in many ways. We are a Membership Organization whose members get real benefits. They get the Georgist Journal, of course -- the acclaimed international magazine of movement news and analysis. But there's more: each year, all HGI members vote to elect members of our Board of Directors. At our annual meetings, the general membership is actually empowered to conduct business.

As an HGI member, you play a meaningful role in a worthwhile organization.

If you agree with the HGI's Statement of Purpose (see the end of this message for a reminder), and if you consider yourself part of the worldwide movement for true economic justice, you ought to join the Henry George Institute. You ought to make your voice heard!

Dues are only $20 US per year. Or, you can pay dues "in kind" by convincing one person to enroll in a HGI course and say that you sent them!

Statement of Purpose:

In accordance with the philosophy of Henry George, the Henry George Institute holds that all persons have a right to the use of the earth and that all have a right to the fruits of their labor. To implement these rights it is proposed that the rent of land be taken by the community as public revenue, and that all taxes on labor and the fruits of labor be abolished. The Institute believes with George that "liberty means justice and justice is the natural law," and that the social and economic ills besetting the world today are the result of non-conformance to natural law. The Institute pledges itself to bring this philosophy to the attention of the public by all suitable means.
