Google Earth Outreach is planning some exciting activities for the IUCN World Conservation Congress in September 2012 in Jeju, Korea!
The main event we’ll be hosting is a full-day Conservation Campus workshop event. Led by the Google Earth Outreach and Earth Engine teams, this training presents a new set of technology, tools, case studies and partnerships in support of environmental conservation. Participants will gain an overview and hands-on technical experience with: -- Google Earth / Maps - environmental data visualization and storytelling in a 3D virtual world; -- Google Earth Engine - analysis of global satellite imagery archive to measure deforestation, land cover change and more; -- Google Maps Engine - geo data cloud-hosting and map publishing for large organizations; -- Open Data Kit on Android - open source field data collection and community engagement via mobile devices. More info on the workshop on the IUCN site is here.
If you will be attending IUCN 2012 conference in Jeju, AND would like to attend this workshop, then register now! Registration for this “Conservation Campus” workshop is now open on a first come, first served basis, so please register now by clicking here to visit the IUCN Events page, then logging in, visiting the official program, and searching for "Google" to find our Conservation Campus.
If you are attending IUCN this year, we very much hope that you or a colleague from your organization can attend. If you’re not planning on attending IUCN in Jeju, please feel free to forward this to relevant colleagues that may be there.
