I'm familiar with the problems people are having who attempted to use
post-4.0 versions of Google Earth on OS 10.3.9. But that didn't apply
to me - I thought! I had a perfectly good copy of Earth 4.0.2736.0
which was working great (if a bit slow at times).
However, two days ago this version very abruptly stopped working! No
warning, no nothing. One night I attempted to start it and it simply
wouldn't start. No window appeared on the screen. The software
wouldn't even run.
So, my first thought was maybe there's a server problem. But on 3
successive days the same thing happened, so it can't be that. My
second thought was that my copy of the software was corrupted so I
tried to download a new copy. I had the same problem as everybody else
in getting 4.2 which definitely won't run on my system. However, I
*did* finally find a download of the same version I had before.
Installed it. Same problem - won't run.
So - is the Google Earth server simply not supporting this version any
more? And if so, *why* was this fact not announced?
Note that I *cannot* upgrade my OS version because I absolutely
require the Classic Environment support that my existing version gives.

Arachnologus, welcome to the club. We're all anxious to return to GE
and feel that we have been dropped off the face of the GE Globe. So,
I'm going to relax, take a deep breath, swear a few times, then give
it a few days for the GE gnomes to work it out. I'm sure they've gone
home for the Memorial Day long-weekend. But, on Tuesday AM they'll be
back to the task.
Now, breathe deeply...aahhh...!@#$%^&*()_!!!!!!!!!!
IM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND AND NOW FORCED TO UPGRADE MY 10.3..9 TO
A 10.4 !!!
IM VERY ANGRY AT GOOGLE AND WILL NOT SUPPORT NOR PURCHASE ANYTHING
THEY ARE AFFILIATED WITH ANYMORE !!

@#$%%^&.... I sure hope that GE will be repaired this version so I can
use it with 10.3.9

Thank goodness someone knows what's going on! I've installed the
hacked version and it works just fine. I don't need GE enough to
warrant updating a stable Max OS (10.3.9) so this fix is great.
