police 
  Ok GE 3 for linux runs appropriatly with Ubuntu 8.10 distribution, but with Debian text is replaced by a yellow rectangle ! Not any police in 3D tools seems to be suitable ! Do anybody has some corrective action to suggest ?

googleearth to slow to use in ubuntu 8.10 
  I have googleearth installed under windows xp home edition and also under ubuntu ver 8.10. Compared to the windows version the linux version is so slow as to be unusable.

Trying to install GE in Fedora 10 
  I'm new to linux and to all this technical stuff in general and I'm having trouble installing GE. I downloaded GoogleEarthLinux.bin to Desktop and went into Terminal. 4.2 Crashing out on Startup in linux. 
  I cannot upgrade to 4.3, and still have the older version of 4.2. My box is: Athlon XP, Nvidia MX-440 (Old enough to be an antique, but has DRI @ 2275 FPS on glxgears). I have Slackware 12.0 for everyday, and fedora. GE hangs in both - I see the splash screen, everything comes up, and just when the splash screen should vanish and the earth... more »

Acer Aspire ONE 
  I am having problems loading Google Earth onto my new Acer Aspire ONE. Its one of these new so-called "netbooks" Its a rather fetching little thing but uses Linux instead of Windows. Google earth requires text relocation 
  I have this error when I try to launch Google earth after installation. Anyone has experimented with this type of problem? There is nothing on the installation tutorial about this issue. Processor features question 
  Answering an older question about how to know what features ones processor has. If you run "glxinfo" or "glxgears" (which tend to be part of the openGL/mesa related packages) or mplayer (which is a video package) they will generally list the acceleration features available. cat'ing or more'ing /proc/cpuinfo may also be informing.... more »
