Subject: Local Server
I want to link to local files in my Placename bubbles.

Does this require programming skills? Do you have to set up a local
server?

Thanks,

 Steve

You can generally link to file locations. Just use the 'C:\dgasd\etc'
style path.

However it only works in some cases due to security isses, eg you cant
link to other kml/z files, and excutables. Pictures generally work.

You would probably best to setup a local webserver - WAMP or similar
should make it easy.

Hope that helps,

Note: I recommend:
http://groups.google.com/group/kml-support
for futher queries like this.

Thanks Barry.

I can link to jpg's, but can't link to "*.html" files.

I will look into your suggestions, and try the kml-support group.

Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

Barry is correct. Linking to local files was disabled in v4.3 for
security purposes.

If you want to link to local files, you can download v4.2 from the
"Download the previous version" links at http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html#no_redirect
