New issue 151 by linuxjustin: Ecomp&ecomorph on freebsd?
http://code.google.com/p/itask-module/issues/detail?id=151

Hi,all:
I'm one of e17+ecomorph fans in archlinux, and I enjoy them very
much.Well, but now,I wanna transfer to FreeBSD 8.1 for some reason,so will
it be possible to compile and run ecomp and ecomporph successfully or need
some hacking?

Yours,
Justin
Yang

I guess e17 and compiz run on FreeBSD so ecomorph should also work. Let me
know if you have issues with it, but better ask FreeBSD users first if you
have trouble compiling it.

Thank you for your reply.I will compile them on my PC recently to see
whether it'll be OK.

I have gotten them both to compile, but ecomorph.sh does not recieve the
correct glx values, and insists that I have a Software Rasterizer, despite
the fact that the output of glxinfo insists that I don't. I had to fiddle
with ecomps Makefile in src/ in order to get it to build, specifically
removing the ldl flag from line 259. Also ecomorph uses inotify which is
Linux specific. Not sure what else to do here.

you can try running 'ecomp ini' i.e. the binary directly. inotify is only
required for updating config with in the module dialog without restarting
ecomp.

I went with ecomp ini to start with, skipping inotify. (I had a feeling
that it would not work. Good to know what it does though.) I tried
installing an older revision, and had limited success with that. I went
with E17 revision 57785, and it compiled and installed with no issues,
(with revision 65085 I ran into some problems with Evas and the new sse3
code, and E17 with SCM_CREDENTIALS in mixer. SCM_CREDENTIALS is Linux
only. FreeBSD has an analog called SCM_CREDS.) At any rate, I was also
able to get an older revision of Ecomp and Ecomorph to compile and install,
on the newest revision that I have I had to fiddle with the Makefile in
ecomp/src. Specifically I had to remove the flag -ldl for libdl which
FreeBSD does not have. The fuctionality provided by that library is
present in glibc directly. Once compilation and installation completed I
immediately started E17 + ecomorph ini, and it did work. I got menu
transparency, and such. Then some strange things happened. The menus
would go black, and I ran gqview, and all of the menus were visible, except
for the Edit menu. Also when in the ecomorph module settings dialog, start
ecomorph was still available. Not sure what to make of all of that, but
this is where I am at with it now. When I select start ecomorph, ecomp.sh
runs, and I get loads of output, and then the ecomorph dialog goes dark,
the terminal that ecomp.sh runs in receives a drop shadow, and I cannot
access the desktop menu in E17.
