The new Chanakya Puri will change along with other development for Dwarka.
I think the FARMHOUSE owners not farmers filed this case. Across Dwarka, Najafarh and Delhi the land SHARKS are encroaching land in the name of FARM HOUSE and then claims legal title then later on convert them to Resorts, Hotels etc an unfortunate affair.
Hardly no NGO fight for such cause.

Regarding housing before it is planned and implimentation the MISTAKEs of Phase-I must be Removed by DDA and MoUD.

Its a good news indeed.
But the existing Dwarka is suffering for Infrastructure developement and basic needs like Water, Power, Roads etc.
Will the authorities take some steps to improve the situation.
Further, hope the Phase -II does not suffer like Phase-I.

At least, I pray to God that the new Phase does not come up. Based on the research that I have including some published studies, i see a catatrophe coming for existing residents in terms of water supply. This may not be very near but would not be very far too. Everything has an optimal size. Its a simple principle of Physics. All growth is not development. After a stage, growth becomes a disease. Lets take a simple example of human beings. An infant grows into an adult. All this growth is also termed as development till the age of 25 years or so. But, after that , if there is still some growth, its lateral and thats a disease.
There is carrying capacity or optimal size for everything. This city including the sub-city of Dwarka has already crossed that. If we rejoice at clearing of Phase-II, we are doing it at our own cost.

To avoid have such situation we all have to leave cities and go back to villages.
Govt have to work migration to BOTH side not one sided(towards cities).
Basic problem is this ..Unequal development.. in my opinion.

We are not doing enough on water to existing Phase I.
are we silent to Farm Houses and other devlopment instead of flats/apartments development?
If we dont develop housing where will the people will go? Some Public land will be initially coverted as slums/jhuggis then after few years pucc house then called it as Unauthorised colonies then regularise..it.. Will that going to help us?

If Dwarka is having such serious water problems with supplies being cut short further by Jal Board with without concerns of existing population then why such plans at all should see the light of the day- unless this new township also is going to hijack our dismal water supply further being a VIP enclave that must have its share of essential commodities at the cost of middle class neighbors. rgds/Pradeep

Dear All

I had filed an RTI for finding out is there are any play facilities for people who cannot join DDA Sports Complex and I have received an response. Taking this further:

1.       Do we as Dwarka residents have a need of the following:

a.       A public play ground

b.      A ground where public functions can be held “Ramlila etc”

2.       It’s sad that in the disguise of Shortage of Space, our Master Plan ignores the needs of communities as a whole. Every public facilities are being commercialized, roads, public grounds etc.

a.       The societies have no place for children to play. The senior citizens donot allow children to play in local parks. And sports complex charge money for using their grounds.

Any ideas on what can be done?

Its very simple. The facilities, opportunities that we are giving in Delhi, be provided in small townships. Secondly, and more importantly, people come where there are investments. Delhi is hot bed of investments. Some of us take pride in hosting of Common Wealth Games. But this is nail in coffin of Delhi. More than Rs 50,000 crore is spent in CW Games related projects. Some say it has crossed Rs. 80,000 crores. People of the nation will flock to where investments happen. They have every right to. After all, its their wealth and they they want a share out of it. We can not be greedy to invest everything here and then not allow migration. Thats why, I have strong objection to remarks of Sheila Dixit, blaming Bihar and U.P. for Delhi's mess. We want every big investment in Delhi but do not want migration. As the saying goes-'We can not have the cake and eat it too'. Recently, if you pondered over news of Delhi Govt asking Bihar and U.P to take back its beggars. Its a bit too smart at Delhi's part.Delhi belong as much to these beggars as to a MNC executive or an IAS living in Delhi

So, to have sustainable existence in Delhi,  we need to respect the resource availability and also control other reasons for migration such as investments.
Besides, building a middle class colony is not just about providing housing facilities but also involve huge investments.Everything has its side effects; sometimes side effects are much over powering on the subject.
Also I did some fact finding when MPD-2021 was announced. I found that there are different reasons behind the expansion. A simple clue will help you to understand. Many people in high places, particularly those that had say in planning or close to planners, bought huge amount of agricultural lands in Delhi at throwaway prices few months before draft MPD-2021 was announced. As soon as MPD-2021 was announced, the value of these lands sky rocketed. People became millionaires overnight.
(Just think of it , even the govt. acquisition rates of these lands is three times at which these people bought these lands). If the farmer had known that his land would be acquired, or it would come in a R-Zone or a Industrial, residential area, he would have never sold it to private people.
What we are seeing is not bona fide expansion to cater to some more migration but something else.

Yes, we can boast of All India Foot Ball Federation but not a SINGLE GROUND for 10 Lakh+ residents. Sad planning. We dont  have poeple like you in DDA planning..

b.      A ground where public functions can be held “Ramlila etc”

Currently a land called Dushere ground next to Sector 11 Sports Complex is being used, i think DDA handed over this to build IHC like club.
If we demand now, may be something like that could be possible. Anotehr option is we awaits the final plan print of Bharat Vandana Park will have something.

The soceity grounds must be for small kids not for grown up kids as it will lead confrontation and many issues. The DF have rtaken up last meeting with CE and also written to mr. even if amenities must be provided to them, being diplomatic enclave, from where they will come. Our apprenhension is that it must not be at the cost of we living in phase I, instead of first fulfiling our basic needs-it is not acceptable that full facilities would be provided to them from somewhere or other! Embassies are different than C.G.H.Ss that will come in Ph-II. These embassies have to come any way in Delhi with no alternative. But the rest of Ph-II expansion could be done anywhere. If not here, than in neigboring NCR. This is what NCR Planning Board advocated more than 20 years ago.
But at the same time, we have a right to say that- provide us the amenities first and Diplomatic Enclave only after that.

But we should get details of their plans for the same in advance to restrict diverting existing resources of Dwarka ph-1 to new planned areas.

Rohit,
I think these are Sports Complex only not separate play field.
As nothing could be find that nature in the Map.
Yes, sector 8 have sports complex and size may be right
Sector 6 nothing found on map.
Sector 19 have 2 locations for sports complex as marked in map.
Sector 16 I dont see any .
sector 11 again the existing sports complex only.

So you may seek clarification from them the location (Plot No) and preferably a map either available on DDA Web as per Section 4 of RTI Act 2005. <dirlan...@dda.org.in>,

In case they are misleading or the plan changed etc.. we never know..
Recently I found a DDA PUblic School in Sector 22 with boundry in no means of time come up.. WHO is behind it and how did it changed no clue.

Thanks,

Cheers to Rohit Jain and Diwan singh efforts.

As the Capital prepares to host the Commonwealth Games in October there have been murmurs about the sorry state of Indian athletes. A reason often cited for the average performance by Indian athletes is the lack of infrastructure.

An assessment done by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) shows that nearly 70 per cent people cannot afford a membership to the sports complexes run by it.

To get rid of the usual complaints, Delhi is getting ready to ensure adequate infrastructure is provided to the athletes to hone their skills. To this effect, Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna has directed the DDA to create “playfields”.

A playfield, according to a senior DDA official, is a large plot of land with infrastructure for certain basic sports like cricket, and football among others. Unlike a sports complex, these playfields can be used by anyone, free of charge.

According to the plan, the DDA will develop a playfield to accompany each sports complex in the Capital. For this, a sum of Rs 5 lakh will be made available to develop each playfield.

The DDA’s assessment also found that West Delhi and Northeast Delhi are lagging behind in terms of quality sports infrastructure. Areas identified to develop the new playfields include Vasant Kunj, Mandawali Fazalpur, Vikaspuri, Gulabi Bagh, Dwarka, Sheikh Sarai, Rohini, Pratap Nagar, and Narela.

“The L-G wants to ensure that every constituency has a sports complex, right now there are only 32. Our long-term attempt will be to ensure that there is a playfield near each sports complex,” a senior DDA official said.

The DDA has also found that where playfields exist, such as in Hauz Khas, they are often be taken over by a set of people who refuse to allow others to use the facility. To avoid such a scenario, the L-G has recommended that former servicemen are made in charge of regulating the play areas.

“The L-G has directed us to ensure that the management of these playfields is worked out in advance,” the official added.

Here is something we discussed and proposed.

Proposal to open schoolgrounds for local children gets UD ministry nod

Playgrounds of schools in Delhi would soon be thrown open for children from the neighbourhood to play. Urban development minister Kamal Nath has issued instructions to ensure mandatory use of play fields of the Capital's schools after school hours. Nath's instructions come after Union

sports minister Ajay Maken had requested him to make such a provision mandatory for schools that have been allotted land by the DDA.

The DDA has given land, including space for play fields to numerous schools in the Capital, Maken had said in the letter to Nath.

"While the land for school building is allotted on perpetual lease at relatively higher payable costs, the land for play fields is allotted on temporary basis on payment of nominal rent," he had said.

"The proposal of the Union sports minister has been accepted. Further details would be worked out by the Delhi government," Urban Development Secretary Sudhir Krishna told Hindustan Times.

Maken has also written letters to the chief ministers of all the states in the country to implement such a policy in their respective states as well.

"Delhi has no dearth of parks and playgrounds, except in unauthorised localities. But we will still look into their suggestion," said Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

Schools, however, feel that there can't be any immediate action on the proposal, as the modalities have to be worked out.

"If the ground would be used 24X7, then where will you find time for maintenance. Also, who is going to be there to monitor who comes in to play. There could be issues like violent acts or bullying. Who would be responsible if something untoward happens?" asked Ameeta Wattal, secretary, National Progressive School Conference and principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road. RWAs have welcomed the move and congratulated Maken over it
