Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jaylalita has crossed landmark set by the earlier UP Chief Minister Mayawati in self-glorification through costly newspaper-advertisements when all prominent English national dailies even from New Delhi published full four-page photo-advertisements including on front and front-back to celebrate one year of her being in power. It is beyond understanding how some public-interest purpose can be achieved by spending so heavily by a state by burdening the state-exchequer through such costly advertisements in national dailies!
A petition against misuse of public-money on photo-publicity of political rulers through such costly advertisements is pending at Supreme Court for several years. Since political rulers can never be sincere to abolish their privilege of photo-publicity, instead of wasting any more time Apex Court should order a complete ban on publishing photos of living personalities in government-advertisements.
