Dear friends :  Our CGHS was charging a good amount of money towards maintenance charges and since some members have now moved in their flats and feel that the kind of water which is available in Dwarka, is not worth drinking, it was desired to install Central RO system. But due to this proposal, the Society proposed to increase the maintenance charges by Rs. 500/- per month, which was resented by some members, terming that the increase is higher than the expected expenditure for installation and maintenance of the RO system. However, the managing committee, appointed a group of 5/6 members to study the cost of entire RO system required for a society of 110 members and then give its recommendations on the amount of maintenance charges to be increased owing to this system. Now, unofficially, it has transpired that the Society proposes to double the maintenance charges in the name of this RO system.

In the light of the above scenario, I request the hon'ble members of this forum to apprise us on the following points :-

A.    What is the approximate cost of RO system required for a Society with a membership of 110,

B.    What is the approximate cost of its maintenance ,

C.    As only 9/10 members have so far shifted to their flats, and another 7/8 members are expected to shift within next one or two months, the water requirement for the Society shall not be much higher, what should be the reasonable amount to be increased due to RO system ?

D.    Is it worth spending such a big amount on this system with a recurring cost also,  because small individual RO systems can also be installed in the kitchens for using pure and cleaned water for cooking and drinking as well.  A friend of mine who has installed small RO system in the kitchen has also informed that small RO system in kitchen cots just Rs. 13/14K.

Refer our series of discussions if we are unable to put pressure for water from DJB it is quite obvious. However coming back to your query investment is to be determined what kind of system u are going to installed with capacity.Once you decide this then only anyone can help you.Kitchen RO may cost u even 7k.

Dear Mr Bhardwaj,

Our society called Abhiyan CGHS Ltd had in fact a very huge RO system from
the very beginning in 2001 itself, which is now useless.
In fact we had a committee which looked into its revival but found to be
useless. As such for RO you need a very good
membrane for filtration. These membranes are not manufactured in India and
hence they are quite costly. Also the committee
found that even if we buy the large can water it works out to be cheaper.
These RO are energy guzzling systems !!! Anyhow there may be
much advanced ones but in any case it is not worth it.

You can also check with someone in the ITC Apartments in Sector 3. They are
using RO for quite a long time.

For members of 110 RO plant(ie 400 heads) is not recommendable.
Because after installing RO plant , you have to recruit one person for monitoring the pH & TDS.
You have to take out, some solution for the waste water from RO plant also.
Then change of filters also to be done or you may give it on AMC which is also chargeable

The cost 1500 LPH RO plant is Rs 3,55,000/-

The best option is personal RO at your kitchen.

Dear Mr Bharadwajji,
I appreciate your concern and would like to confirm that individual RO systems in the kitchens are much more economical than central RO system and the basic reason is that the RO system basically required is for drinking  and cooking purposes. For all other puposes normal water is acceptable. Some people may argue for clen water for washing hair, that too can be taken from the kitchen RO and done with.
This is entirely my personal view.People have the right to differ.Well!! Afood for thought" Society elections therefore are more important than the MCD elections...."
Thanx n regards

Hi

There are some ROs available on lease. Vendor charges Rs42/1000 liters of RO water + 2 Lac initial deposit + 2-5 years contract. This is generally cheaper then installing RO in short term obviously.. But groud water is not fit for bathing, pipes, tiles etc so RO in kitchen won't prevent rusting of internal society pipers due to hard water. So while calculating do calculate the cost of repair of whole bathroom pipes every 15 years or so due to hard water..

Thats why I am mad about this issue and will never vote for a govt. which didn't provided us clean water in last 12 years of my stay in dwarka.. This of damange of rust pipes and now think what this water will be doing in our body inside and outside.

So please don't stop if someone is trying to get this installed as its beneficial in long term.. It might be useless after 10 years but if this has protected ur body and pipes for 10 years then i feel it has paid for its existence..

Regards
Krishna

Dear Bharadwaj ji,

You are taking about 13/14 years ago.

Its all past ... now no school in Delhi admits children without taking

without giving cash?

Yes my both children admitted without cash. Elder one in  Bal Bharati dwarka and younger one in MBS dwarka (time being) .

All school are not same...specially bal bharati dwarka is most cheapest in term of fee etc given the quality of education.

Ranjeet

My observation is when parents become adamant that
they want their ward to be admitted in a particular school
only and not willing to take chance else where they end up
paying the cash .
