DDA and DJB have totally failed to provide piped potable water to the residents of Dwarka. Munak excuse is prevailing since 2003.  

There may be an excuse of shortage of water or Munak canal. But what about that water which is being openly stolen under the nose of DDA and DDA is not bothered. WHY? Vote Bank.

THE Delhi government has not been able to bring in the promised 80 MGD additional supply of water from the Munak Canal project despite spending nearly eight years and ` 400 crore.

Right after construction on the canal started in 2003, 27 months after which the canal was to become operational, Haryana backtracked on its word to provide water and has refused to budge from its position ever since.

According to the spokesperson for DJB, Sanjam Cheema, the issue of Munak Canal is being strongly pursued with the Union and the Haryana governments.

Of the 80 MGD water anticipated to come from the canal, Delhi already built three treatment plants of which 40 MGD was expected to be diverted for the Dwarka water treatment plant and 20 MGD each for plants in Okhla and Bawana.

The Haryana govt. is backing out from its own promise after taking 414 crore from Delhi Haryana is claiming that it is giving desired water to Delhi.  The Delhi govt. cannot do any thing concrete than complaining to the Centre and Centre formed GoM which could not do anything but wasted many months and failed to find out any solution.  All the three govts, are passing the buck on others door and water for Delhi has now became a riddle.  Haryana govt. is not listening to Centre and interestingly, at all the three places, the Congress or Congress led govts are ruling. Many areas in Delhi including Dwarka are looking for every drop of water and the tanker mafia is allowed to exploit the situation. Congress led UPA at the Centre and Congress Govt. in Delhi are showing their helplessness or may be befooling the Delhiites. May be, a solution may be found just before the Assembly elections in Delhi to garner votes.
