Good job Joseph. Please pursue it for the benefit of Dwarkaites.

You can suggest for point no 6 in the Memorandum:

6)      Requirement of sheds at bus-stops and public transport within Dwarka

Though the residents of Dwarka and Palam got respite due to the newly constructed palam flyover, several times the commuters have fainted at the bus stops waiting for the bus in the scorching summer heat and sun.

The sheds are either in dilapidated condition or missing. This needs addressal and corrective action on priority basis

Also the commuting transport services for intra-Dwarka are missing or very few resulting in over-crowded RTVs which are dangerous especially to the children, senior citizens and ladies. Although metro has provided some reprieve but the unscrupulous rikshawallas fleece the naïve commuters even for taking them a few kms from the metro station to their destinations.

Dwarka - CP route is ok due to the arrival of metro.
But Nazafgarh - Dwarka - Nehru Place route require proper
planning/ strategy.
Even though the frequency of route no 764 is 5-10 min in office hour, it is very difficult to get into the bus. Sometimes wait for 3-4 overcrowded buses to pass to just get in. DTC official should see these buses in office hours to get concrete solutions. They can easily observe the pathetic condition of commuters.

Suggestions:
-cut short the route to Dwarka- NP or Dwarka-IIT or Dwarka- BCP
   for some buses.
-more buses in office hours
-Some chartered/ RTV buses charge Rs25/- for Dwaka-NP route.
so DTC can run A/C buses @Rs 15/-- and can earn big profits.

 Thanks,

Dwarka Parichay Team

Thank you Joseph taking up SUCH AN IMPORTANT ISSUE for DWARKITES.
I too made some emails/letters but never got any positive response other than one in which Sect/22/23 RL Route which by all pressure from other RWA/Forums support they started a year back.
My suggestion/submission are :
1. Sector 22/23 is not accesable by any public transport other than one/two morning & evening shuttle. There is urgent need for increase the frequency of this service.
2. There must be service to Gurgaon
3. IMPORTANT: There must be some CIRCULAR SERVICE to help residents to reach METRO in all Sectors. The lowfloor AC bus would be ideal for Dwarka. Even though it may not be profitable for DTC(normally a resident in Sect 22 pay over Rs.10 just to reach Sect 9 Metro by Rikshaw). However for public transport with time it will come up for profit and it will help the country in reducing spending in OIL by reducing private transport.
4. Connecting service with Metro Station with Domestic/International Airport.
6. The RTV are a Mess and not suitable for Dwarka as it name suggest(RURAL TRANSPORT VEHICLE).
7. There must be connecting service towards South Delhi (Nehruplace/Vasant Kunj/Bikaji/Dhaula Kuan) and West & South West.
8. The Depots in Palam/Manglapuri must be moved to Dwarka, where I beleive DDA/Govt NCT Delhi already alloted plot and no action from DTC So far.

If any other point, I will revert to you
Thanks once again.

Yes. I also agree the suggestions for Route No. 764.

Apart from increasing the frequency of 764 during office hours, DTC can
also ply the high-capacity bus in this route. I often see Route No.620 bus
going empty! And I have never seen this high-capacity busy in any other
route.

Yes. The fare could also be Rs.15 instead of Rs.10/-

Inter-connectivity with different sectors is a welcome idea. A suggestion
like to start a bus from Sector 14 and then reach Sector 12, Sector 19 &
18, Sector 22&23, Sector 11, Sector 10 & 6, Sector 7 near Munirka Apts and
finally Sector 1!!! Any comments or better route than this would be most
welcome.

100 NEW BUSES ON GANDHI JAYANTI
NEW DELHI:

The number of airconditioned buses on Delhi roads is all set to swell.

Delhi Transport Corporation's (DTC) latest acquisition, about 25 AC and 75 non-AC buses, will be inducted into the fleet on October 2.

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit will flag off these buses from India Gate.

Hundred new low-floor buses reached Delhi in September.

After fitness tests and other formalities like registration, insurance and permits, these buses are ready to run on the city roads.

According to senior DTC officials, these buses will ply in Dwarka and in East Delhi.

"We will start a shuttle service in Dwarka from October 2,"
a senior DTC official said.

Some of the new buses will be put on the new East Delhi Mudrika service, which will also be launched on October 2.

By March 31, 2010, Delhi will have 3125 low-floor buses

I personally feel that shuttle service (with-in Dwarka) might not run effectively for a longer period due to non availability of daily regular commuters all the day.

It would have better, if DTC chalk out a plan, starting regular bus services to various parts of Delhi from different sector of Dwarka. i.e. Buses originating from various sectors of Dwarka and touching main markets/roads/junctions of Dwarka  before exiting out of Dwarka to connect others major parts of Delhi.

Inauguration of Shuttle Services will be on 4th October 09, Depot at Sector-8 is almost complete.

DTC is soon going to start a shuttle service within Dwarka and new routes from the sub-city

The Dwarka sub-city is spread over 42 sq km. In the absence of any dependable mode of public transport, the residents find it difficult to move around. But now things are going to change for the better.
Here is some good news for the residents of Dwarka. The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is going to start a shuttle bus service within Dwarka.
The service is going to connect different points in Dwarka. In addition to the shuttle service, the DTC is also going to start new routes from Dwarka, most of which will connect the subcity with central and south Delhi.
This would be possible after the new DTC bus depot at Sector 8 opens in the coming week.

The initial plan of launching the service on October 2 has been postponed due to some teething troubles.

According to the revised plan, the CM will flag off 100 low floor buses (25 AC and 75 non-AC) from India Gate on October 4.
According to DTC officials, a part of this new fleet would be allotted to the Dwarka Sector 8 depot, from where initially eight buses would be pressed into the shuttle service.

The different residents bodies in Dwarka have been pursuing with DTC to start a circular bus service in the sub-city.

Joel Joseph from Dwarka Forum had taken up the matter of the circular service with the DTC in 2007. "We are very happy at the start of this service. We were assured that the plan for a circular bus service is afoot.
It took a long time in coming but as long as DTC continues the service, things would be fine,"said Joseph. The DTC also plans to introduce AC buses as part of the shuttle bus service.

Some residents still have doubts. "I feel that the shuttle service (within Dwarka) might not run effectively for long due to non-availability of commuters throughout the day. It would be better if the DTC chalks out a plan, starting regular bus services to other parts of Delhi from different sectors of Dwarka.

Buses originating from various sectors of Dwarka and touching the main markets, roads and junctions of Dwarka before exiting out of Dwarka to connect other major parts of Delhi would probably be a better idea,"
says Sunil Kumar, a resident.

A senior DTC official promised that the shuttle service would be continued for a long period irrespective of the initial public response.

The new buses and the circular service were supposed to start in September 2009. Why the delay?

The buses that we ordered were a little slow in coming. Now e have the buses. The route for the circular service has been charted out. We are planning to introduce a smart card, like the one in Delhi Metro.
What is the criterion for the route of the circular service?
The route for the circular buses has been so charted that all the residential pockets are covered.
What is the plan for Dwarka?

We are going to introduce new routes out of Dwarka as well once the Sector 8 depot is operational. Work on the Sector 2 depot is on. Initially the Sector 8 depot would have 50 buses.
We will work towards getting 100 buses each in both the depots. 100 New low floor buses to be launched on October 4 3,125 New low floor buses in Delhi by March 31 next year 8 Buses would be for shuttle service in Dwarka and some for East Delhi Mudrika service 20 minute frequency initially is the DTC plan 50 Buses in Sector 8 bus depot that will open next week 20 New routes from the Sector 8 depot Sector 10 Bus terminal is also complete and will be opened soon

The service needs to be publicised so that people use it and DTC does not run into losses and withdraws the service.

As of now reaching South Delhi from Dwarka is a tedious task and you cannot do without your car. So a dependable bus service is very important.

i dont knw this is absolutely ridiculous on the part of transport minister lovely and chief minister shiela dixit...these people behave in an irresponsible manner..providing false information to the general public.....and nothing effects them not even the repeated requests submitted by our forum...

dwarka has a population of 6.5 lacs but then also the authorities do not pay any attention to the needs of the people here....we pay all the taxes but this is the response we get from the government...

and i guess the government wasent expecting dwarka to grow at such a pace and the sub city being populated at this rate....hence they guess they are not ready to provide the basic public transport as well...and i wonder how much more time will they take to cater to our needs...

same goes with the private builders as well....you have all the advertisements being circulated in dwarka from the likes of yo china(janak puri) to market themselves... why cant they come up with an outlet here???

why have'nt we got a "Mc Donalds outlet" here when u have likes of KFC and subway....

then u have the BIG CINEMAS circulating their pamphlets for the gurgaon branch but no one i say no one from among any of the multiplex players have taken the initiative to build a multiplex in the sub city....i wonder how many years we will have to wait to get a multiplex...

if this is the attitude of the private players which we say are known for better services then what do u expect from the government authorities....

Once, Govt. announced that Chief Minister will inaugurate bus depot and service from Dwarka to different parts of Delhi on 2nd Oct. but suddenly, it was  learnt that the programme has been cancelled/ changed. Now, the same services has been inaugurated from India Gate on 4th, but no news about the number of buses earmarked for destination Dwarka and route numbers also.  Are v being taken for a ride (Not bus ride)?  Probably, we may be able to get some information from DTC / Transport Department website.

Interesting! We are talking about DTC and all of a sudden our bus
started travelling through McDonals & KFC and cinemas. Let us not
dilute the issue of DTC.

Thomas sir,
I apologise for the reason being that we got deviated from the DTC issue but see what we got in return of that a brand new Mc Donalds outlet which will add more glitter to Dwarka

in one way i thank you....because finally Mc. Donalds India has decided to open their outlet in dwarka & no matter what we disuss but the main point is that we should discuss the matter  which is worthy enough to be discussed & it's solution must be finded.

This low floor bus route 801 is already operational but it has been cut short till Manglapuri (Palam) bus terminal. I also asked the information (Delhi Govt.'s Aap Ki Sunwai) regarding route they told as such there is no low floor bus is plying on the route no. 801.

October 14 has also come and gone. DTC is yet to inagurate the Depot
and start the service in Dwarka. Transport Minister Lovely may be
lovely for the voters of Gandhi Nagar. Our puppet peoples
representatives are not capable of getting the approved projects get
started by the Government agencies. What a shame!

Very strangely i do not understand why cannot these buses display both the origin and destination instead of just destination -this will make life easier for an onlooker to see what possible route it could have taken and from which all preceding stops it may have passed. e.g while going on my car to Nehru Place,  i spot a bus at dhaula kuan with the board showing nehru place- but if instead i read a sign showing from Dwarka to Nehru Place then i would know, next time i will try to use this and save my petrol.
Well, we all know on the website of DTC it is possible to know the full route but just for the sake of a really common passenger (who does not have other means except public transport)  this would have been more passenger friendly approach. Yes, we also know these are electronic boards but then everything is possible in even electonic boards!
why the concerned people sitting in DTC or Transport dept.  who are experts and surely getting salary also for this job (and perhaps also touring foreign cities to study the bus systems running there), did not think on this simple idea. A simple stencilled tin board would be more informative.

But from the experience of we citizens,  we would imagine it is not ignorance but surely some money-making corrupt idea would have been the source of such stupid boards.

yes ,exactly atleast blueline buses are good in this case.Since they show both the origin and destination ..
DTC should think on this problem so as to promote use of public transport.
