Kedarnath – Lord Shiva’s Abode Next place in Chardham Yatra is Kedarnath, from Harsil to Uttarkashi is 69 Kms and then to Guptkashi is 230 kms, Total journey time is about 10 hrs. Passing through Srinagar, Uttarakhand, This route is beautifully followed by River
Mandakini. At Guptkashi there are few hotels and camps which are available at a very reasonable price. The next morning starts with a nice breakfast which is followed by a travel upto Gauri Kundvia a motorable road or to Phata from where Helicopter Service is availble to Kedarnath. At Gauri Kund which is the starting point of Kedarnath trek is a hot water spring, here the Goddess Parvathi lived and performed sadhna to please Lord Shiva and finally got married to him. It is also the place where Lord Ganesha acquied the elephant head. 14 kms trek from here is very tough and takes about 4-5 hours. On the way is Rambara where small dhabas(restaurant) serve tea and pakoras(snacks). Kedarnath temple is at the height of
3585 meters situated near the head of river Mandakini, sorrounded by snow capped mountains, it’s name is derived from the King Kedar in the Satya Yuga, his daughter Vrinda who is also an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, this temple existed in the Mahabharata period, when Pandavas performed tapasya(prayers) to please Lord Shiva. It was here the Adi Shankaracharya took samadhi at the age of 32 years soon after establishing the for sacred dhams, it is considered a must visit place, there is a small hot water spring which gives relief to the pilgrims from the tiredness of hard journey, there are dharamsalas, camps and small guest houses, the temple opens at 6 o’clock in the morning and closes in the evening, Kedarnath is the highest among the 12 Jyotirlings, it is buit of massive stone slabs over a rectangular platform, here Lord Shiva
who was evading the Pandavas hide himself as a bull, on being followed, he dived in the ground leaving behind the hump, the conical rock inside the temple is worshiped as Lord Shiva in hisSadashiva form, outside the temple there is a large statue of Nandi Bull as a gaurd. One has to be carefull while staying at night here because of low oxygen concentration at this altitude. Pilgrims are advised not to exert themselves. | | Kedarnath, Lord Shiva’s Abode | After staying overnight and performing poojas in the morning one can return to Gauri Kund and drive toJoshimath, there are two routes, one is which normally pilgrims take is driving
through Rudrapryag, second is through Chopta which is the most beautiful, passing through dense forests of Mandal andGopeshwar, from Chopta one can take a trek to Tungnath, it is Lord Shiva’s temple situated at about 4 kms from Chopta. Drive to Joshimath is about 7 hrs. It is better to stay night in Joshimath and take a morning drive to Badrinath, road from here is one-way traffic which opens turn by turn in each direction, it is a 44 kms distance very bad road takes about 4 hrs to reach there , on the way is Gobind Ghat from where trek forSikh pilgrimage, The Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers starts.
Badrinath – Final Destination of Yatra Shri Badrinath Dham is the temple dedicated to lord Vishnu’s dual form Nara-Naryana, the temple is 15 meters tall with top covered with gold gilt roof, it is built of stone with arched windows,
the main entrance is a arched gate, inside is mandapa a large pillared hall leading to the Garbha Griha.

Temple, Final destination of the Char Dham Yatra |
It is surrounded by Nara-Narayan peaks and in the backdrop is the Neelkanth peak. Legends says that to reduce the impact of Ganga on earth it was split into twelve rivolutes and one of them is
river Alaknanda, the other legend is that the Pandavas passed through Badridham and to Mana village to ended their life by accending the heights of peak Swargarohini, there is a cave near the village Mana where the Vyas Rishi wrote the Mahabharata. Before entering the temple, pilgrims must take bath in hot water spring at the Tapta Kund and Surya Kundfed by thermal sulpher springs, the boiling hot water falls into ice cold water of Alaknanda creates the steam over the water surface. North of the temple is a Bharama Kapal where Lord Bharama is said to reside, here the last rites of departed souls are performed. There are lots of other places around like foot prints of Lord
Narayana on rock is about 3 kms called Charan Paduka, about 1 1/2 kms on the other side of river is Shesh Netra, the eye of Shesh Nag on which the Lord Vishnu rests is seen on a rock, about 8 kms is the source of Alaknanda the Bhagirath Kharak and Satopantha Glaciers this place is called Alka Puri. One can return same day to Joshimath or stay one night to visit all these places. Sri Badri Dham is also referred as Badri Vishal thus giving the supreme status among the all Dhams. Dance is the Katha of my soul - Madhura Phatak
Posted: 11 May 2012 01:07 AM PDT

Madhura Phatak is a well known exponent of the North Indian Classical dance form Kathak. Kathak is a dance form that requires mastery over the technical aspects as well
as the emotive aspects, since the essence of the performance is story-telling. Madhura has to her credit numerous successful performances across India and abroad, which have been extensively appreciated by audiences, art patrons as well as critics of dance. Various features on Madhura that have appeared in the print and electronic media highlight the versatile personality of this expressive dancer. Madhura’s performances are marked by a brilliant balance of technical virtuosity and the emotive “abhinaya” aspect of Kathak, which is so much essential to the success of the performance. Breathtaking footwork, clean and graceful movements and deep understanding of literature stemming from her own experiences from life, transforms her stage persona into a source of pure energy that exudes vivacity, joy and a deep spiritual connect. In addition to her strong repertoire that consists of compositions from two leading schools of Kathak, i.e.
the Jaipur and the Lucknow school, Madhura has proved herself to be a successful choreographer, where she brings together her knowledge of singing, theatre, and martial arts together to form a complete expression. She has worked with international musicians and exponents of other musical traditions of India creating new expression in dance. Recognised early for her talent, the Sahitya Kala Parishad awarded her the best dancer award for her performance at the Yuva Mahatosav. The Sur Singar Parishad Mumbai, which invites the stalwarts from the world of Kathak like Padmabhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj and Shrimati Sitara Devi to identify the next generation of talent, recognized her star potential by awarding Madhura the “Singar Mani” title. This petite and graceful dancer also has to her credit the Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Ekta Award, which is often given for contributions of the young to different fields of development and culture.

Madhura trained in Kathak since an early age of 5 from her home city Pune. 1990 onwards, she shifted to Delhi with the single aim of pursuing advanced training in Kathak. Madhura considers herself fortunate to have been trained under Guru Padmashri Shovana Narayan. In the year 1995 was awarded an M.Phil degree in German Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru
University. Her dissertation for this degree “Dance a translation of literature” – A semiotic anaylsis, is recognized even today as an exemplary work of research. Today in addition to her busy schedule of performances, Madhura imparts training to children and adults. For a period of two years, Madhura was specially invited by Akshay Pratishthan, a school that imparts education to the physically challenged and underprivileged children, to train their children in classical dance. She was also associated for a short stint with Salam Balak Trust, an NGO that houses several street children.

‘डेंजरस इश्क’ डेंजरस कम बेक
Posted: 11 May 2012 01:04 AM PDT

Film: Dangerous Ishq ; Release Date : 11, May 2012 Director --- Vikram Bhatt Producer --- Arun Rangachari ***** Starring ***** Karisma Kapoor, Rajneesh Duggal

Obstacles in Meditation and Ways of Overcoming Them
Posted: 10 May 2012 07:57 PM PDT

Geeta Spiritual HealerMeditation is communion with the inner self. Discovering oneself and expending our consciousness and becoming one with the infinite source of light and intelligence. To attain the actual state of meditation is not an easy job, it will take time may be in days, in months or in years. No matter which system of meditation you follow there will be difficulties and obstacles. You may be discouraged and impatient with the process
and the progress. Resistance of the body, bodily habits, deep rooted mental tendencies, and intellect may produce obstacles in the practice of meditation. Mental, physical and emotional weaknesses will pull you away from the path, so you must be determined to continue in spite of any problem. According to Patanjali the obstacles in meditation are: · DiseaseSickness of the body is caused by impure and inefficient diet, uncontrolled urges, and lack of physical activities, mental stress and over work. Physical sickness is a great hindrance to the practice of meditation, because the body and the mind are related to each other. Take a simple, light, nutritious and wholesome diet like milk, wheat, barley, fruits and vegetables, dry fruits, low sweet or salt diets etc. Regular exercise, breathing exercise, conservation of energy by controlling different mental and physical urges are necessary for the path of meditation. ·
DoubtDoubts are caused by the impurity of mind, which exert resistance from the subconscious mind. Doubts about the certainty of the result, about the impossibility of result and derogative thoughts are common doubts, may produce hindrance to the path of meditation. Hearing or reading sacred texts, company of spiritual people, rigorous meditation technique and concentrating on one owns deity will remove all the doubts. · Craving for Sense EnjoymentDue to the resistance of subconscious mind craving for sense enjoyment arises in the mind. In meditation when the mind begins to raise the upper level of consciousness, the suppressed emotions, feelings and thoughts in the subconscious mind begin to start manifested and expressed in the conscious level. These craving must be neutralise by sense- control and practices of discrimination and by devoting more time regularly in the practise of meditation. ·
Failure in ConcentrationAs the person practises concentration the suppressed or hidden mental tendencies begin to appear on the surface and drag the mind down. When the mind craves sensual stimulation it become agitated and unable to concentrate. The problem lies in a weak will. You must keep your interest alive. Uninterrupted and regular practice of meditation is the remedy to this problem. · Falling Away From ConcentrationUnpleasant and distasteful meditation technique may induce demotivation and fatigue at times. This may happen because of lack of efforts to progress in the path. Remember that you can do almost anything in this world if you have strength of will, awareness and interest. · False Perception or Psychic experiencesWhen you practise meditation, you can expect to come to face with many subtle thoughts and visions which have been stored away in the subconscious mind. Many people
feel that because they are having psychic experiences they are progressing into spirituals life. But this is not true. All psychic experiences are unreal they are not ultimate goal. They misguide our consciousness and make us forget our real path. Do not become involved with psychic experiences and do not crave for them. With careful observation they will pass away and you may never have them again. · Mental InertiaUnder mental inertia the mind tends to reject any idea, practice or technique which disturbs its original state. Recreate the original motivation and establish meditations as part of your daily routine, proper diet, regulation of sleep are the factors necessary to break the mental inertia. · SlothThe mind is unable to stir, it is caused by weakness of the mind or low energy level of the mind. Strong wills, mental exercises and breathing techniques can overcome the condition of
sloth. · DelusionIn the path of meditation the person may ignore the aspect of regularity; oversimplify few steps, impressed by unreal psychic impressions, forget the clarity of goal, hence may slip into the state of delusion. Delusion is overcome by following rules of practice, stick to teaching and guidance of the efficient master or teacher. **************************
