Buying new cam - PAL or NTSC (not obvious)
Hi fellows, I plan to buy a new camera soon, and I suddenly realized that one basic decision I have to make is whether I buy a PAL or NTSC model. Consider the following: 1. I am buying the camera for some shoots I plan to do late this year and early next year. These shoots are in China (PAL), HK (PAL),... more »

FCP question - sudden honking sound
hi fellows, I wonder if anyone has encountered this problem with FCP? I am editing a regular timeline - meaning two voiceover tracks, with a music cut underneath. During playback in one section, there is a sudden, very loud honking sound that plays for about 1/3 seconds. It doesn't happen all the time, and its not exactly in the same place... more »

VHS-c to VHS via surgery?
Hi folks, A caller needs to see the video (NTSC) from a VHS-c tape. Unfortunately, they have no access to a vhs-c camcorder and neither of us has an adapter. Finding a quality adapter is probably next to impossible as well as a bit expensive for a one time job. Is it a good idea to just respool the tape from the vhs-c cartridge to a full sized VHS shell for playback and transfer to DVD? Is this as easy as I think it would be? Thanks.... more »

Equipment For Sale
I've been mostly a lurker on DV-L for many years now. Hopefully the occasional post I've made has proved of some value. But as time marches on, I find that I no longer am able to be serious about providing for-pay services and thus have some equipment that no longer will be used. I'm posting it here before listing on eBay,... more »

DV-L] Anyone editing in AVCHD?
Hi there, I'm wondering if someone here can share their experiences editing AVCHD footage. I'm aware that for most editing machines, you will have to use an intermediate codec - the question in my mind is whether you can actually live with all this intermediate codec stuff if you had to edit this format on a daily basis (as opposed to editing footage a... more »

MPEG2 to DVD multifile rendering: More separate MPEG files --> Lower Quality DVD?
I am creating a DVD from several separate mpeg2 files. Should I expect the quality of the end DVD to be less than that of the MPEG2 files? And should it get worse as the MPEG files become more numerous? I use Corel VideoStudio Pro X2. I know from experience that if I combine / render multiple MPEG2 files... more »

VCL-HG0872 (Old wide conversion lens for Z1/FX1) in Z5 or FX1000
Hi, Is anyone here have Z5 or FX1000 and VCL-HG0872 ? (I say VCL-HG0872, old accessories of Z1 and FX1 , not newer VCL-HG0872X or K) Does this wide angle of old Z1 or FX1 still can work "Good Enough" (instead of perfectly) ? I read one review (user raf3d from Brazil): [link]... more »
