A brief explanation for new people:
In case you haven't been told about it, this is the Treasure Trap
timeline, a weekly update on what is happening in character in the city
of Durholme. If something is mentioned here then your character can
know
it and talk about it. Except for the out of character notices at the
end,
that is. Um, that's it, really.

12th day of the 10th month, 1282

This is the city that always wins. Its fierce stone walls stand proud
in
the knowledge of the great traditiions that they represent. The city
which won the Pyrokin War. The city against which the armies of Bayazid
the Thunderbolt were shattered. The city whose inhabitants slew the
Aspect, sending his form hurtling into the void. Its might towers stand
proud against the sky, challenging the world to take its best shot.
This
is Durholme.

There has been much sad news in the city this week. A blue elf named
Elorial Windrider, who has been missing for several days, is now
believed
to be dead. Due to his nature no body has been found, but magical
searches of the area where he was last seen have led the city guard to
conclude that Windrider, a fishmonger of no great repute, was murdered
by
an unknown assailant. The blue elven ambassador to the city has stated
that he believes this to be the work of brown elf agents working for the
dragon lords, and tensions have now reached a new high between the elves
of air and earth.

Authorities are also worried by the murder of Jonas Tuck, a member of
the
order of the Children of Light, who was found dead in a ditch on the
outskirts of the city. Tuck had been missing for several weeks, and the
smell which drew attention to the body seems to indicate that he has
been
dead for most of that time.

No less sad for many of the city's drinkers is the news that the famed
drinking establishment the Red Warlock is to close down. The building
has
been bought by the Boogie Knights, an order of warriors from southern
Albion, who wish to convert it into a temple. Regulars will be
celebrating the Warlock one last time on Wednesday, meeting in the Blue
Rose from 6.30 onwards, all welcome.

The clan of ogres which arrived in Durholme during the Aspect crisis has
begun to disperse, with many of its members dissappearing into the
surrounding countryside in search of food and 'squishy', whatever that
might be. However, those that remain still form a more substantial
population than was present before the Aspect War.

The explorer Deutronimous Sping has arrived in northern Albion with "The
Most Incredible Collection of Wild and Weird Animals This Side of Hell".
These creatures, which he has collected during his recent voyage
throughout the continents of the world, are currently on display in
Newcroft, and will soon begin a tour of the region.

Several fishermen report seeing a beautiful white ship moving at
incredible speeds in the waters just off the coast east of Durholme.
The
boat, which some fishermen say was so wonderful it must have been a
fairy construct, is reportedly slender and beautiful, but hard to see
with mortal eyes.

Further off the coast, the storm which has been raging for the past
three
months continues unabated. Several fishing craft have been lost by
going
too close to it, and trade routes have had to change to avoid the area.

Rumours abound regarding the presence of an Aspect general in the area
around Durholme. The city guard have confirmed these reports, and a
reward has been offered by the city for his capture.

Further afield, city guardsmen and Astalonians in Nottingham are
searching
for clues in the hunt for the killer of a priest of Morpheus in their
city. There are no indications that he had any enemies, and this,
combined with the messy nature of the killing, has frightened many locals
into wondering if they will be next.

Travellers from southern Rovak have brought tales of a new conflict
arising in that region. It is not yet clear who the Rovaki's opponents
are, but it is clear that the people of Rovak, weakened by repeated wars
and invasions, are losing ground at a rapid rate to an invading human
army.

Happier news comes from the Dukedom of Wessex, on the southern coast of
Albion. Duke Edward has announced his betroathal to Sheol, the queen
mother of the Kingdom of the Seven Shires. The diplomatic concequences
of
this match are as yet unclear, but most people have joined Lord Richard
of
the Folk in his declaration of happiness that the two year old king of
the
Shires will have a father once more.

This is the city, a magnificent grey blister on the landscape, a
mingling
of slums and palaces, beautiful towers and stinking gutters. People
depart, but more arrive. Every day sees birth and death, and the cycle
of
life continues unhindered. As normality continues unchallenged, the
city
waits...

OOC stuff:
Can anybody who is thinking about going on this years third year goodbye
please e-mail me, Al and Chris, so that we know who is interested.

Also, can you all please send in updated backgrounds and skill lists.
Please.

Love from

Oooh. A phantom double post. They are both the same so don't bother to
read both.

No fishmonger could be of great repute compared to WILSON.

Speaking as the person who created Wilson and his endless
supply of potted shrimp, but who was not responsible for
what happened after his initial appearence, I can only
apologise.
