Hello, Fellow hackerspace!

Me and a friend will be in New Zealand for a Geocaching MEGA-event from the 10th to the 26th of october and thought we'd like to come by and visit you guys on the 13th of october, if that's ok with you?

We both frequent a local hackerspace her in Copenhagen, Denmark called Labitat (http://labitat.dk - check out the wiki for all the fun stuff we do) and we get loads of visitors from other countries.. now it's time to visit others and see what they do.

Hope to see you soon!

PS: Does anyone know anything about mobile internetaccess down there? Either just by sim-card for one of our phones or a mobile hotspot - what to get, which prices to expect etc?

Cheers!

/rené (k2OS from labitat)

There are 3 phone companies - all are GSM these days:

www.vodaphone.co.nz
www.telecom.co.nz
www.2degreesmobile.co.nz

2degrees tend to the the low price provider - I don;t know which is the best
pay as you go provider I'm afraid

2Degrees @ $99/12GB is about the cheapest prepaid internet, but it is limited to cities+towns, outside of larger towns the vodafone rates apply - to be on 2Degree's rates you need to be connected to a 2Degrees repeater/tower.

Kinda shameless self promotion, but I just wrote up a blogpost on using a 2Degrees datastick on Arch Linux this evening.

Another thing.. for some reason, one of my 'colleagues' from our local
hackerspace got all up on needles and pins, wanting us to bring
filament for our 3D-printer with us home. This is from Diamondage in
Auckland.
Now, since we're not going to the north island, I wonder if it could
be possible to order some rolls and have them sent to your space or if
someone would be willing to receive it for us on their home address -
we can pick it up either on the 13th or just before/after the weekend
of the 20th/23rd where we are just outside Dunedin.

If anyone can help, please let me know.

Cheers!
