Hi,
I just wonder if any of you also build projects related to model railway layout, or building any brass scale models (that involve chemical-milling or lasercutting sheetmetal and lost-wax castings), or model engineering?
For the PCB project, I am thinking about digital model railway control, which will be useful for the former, or 3-phase induction motor VVVF inverter for traction motor, which will be useful for the last item.
And for the motor controller, I am thinking about either controlling an existing induction motor, or I build a 24V linear induction motor?
The former option looks easier, but will involve high voltage, unless I redo the winding of a motor with low voltage.....
For the latter option, I will need to get some undergraduate textbooks for electric machines, and to get steel stamping sheets for the stator, but it will be more exciting, as the cart will move "by magic"..... probably a good item for the next King Edward Court Open Day...........
At the moment, I am looking at some open-source undergraduate engineering projects for linear induction motor.............
