As some point, I'd like to offer a workshop on free code operating
systems. Most people involved with DSpace are already familiar with
Linux as used with GNU and Android systems, but how many people have
had a play with Haiku, Syllable, OpenIndiana (formerly OpenSolaris) or
GNU/HURD? I will bring .iso files of these along.
I can demonstrate simple graphical methods for making a LiveUSB
system, so you can boot into the GNU/Linux distro of your choice, or
Haiku, using only a USB memory stick (please bring your own stick, 2GB
or larger). If I have time, I will see if I can figure out how to boot
Syllable, OpenIndiana and GNU/HURB off USB too.
