Hey guys,

happy new year!

how are things for a meet up in January? Not sure you guys talked
about it at the last one that I missed :S

Anyone for presentations (with or without code) and maybe a Kata?

cheers,
José

Last one was vey small, so to speak :) So, no dates set or topics discussed.

We did mention some lightning talks the last time around - anyone still up for that?

Hello. Happy new year everyone.

We (Dom and I) discussed (and drank) mostly craft beer at the last meetup.

I'm happy to do a lightning presentation on some ideas I have. Some feedback would be good before I start coding.

I'm there. I don't mind putting together a lightning talk either.

Interested in a meetup alright - my excuse for no talk is that I haven't
got enough material to say anything meaningful :)

I was thinking about that very problem and was half-considering that maybe we should maintain a list of subjects we would like to get to some day, but don't have the time.

It seems counter-intuitive that if we are all adding subjects we have not time to investigate to a list then none of us will be have any time to investigate any of them, but someone may have more knowledge or interest in a particular subject and pick up on it faster than the originator.

I don't have enough material to make a presentation either - so I guess the subtext is "send me ideas" :D

I was keeping lists of things in Trello (http://trello.com) and this could be
a place to store this kind of data - it's free, has voting, and multi-list stuff
that some people (including us at Vigill) use as a dev storyboard.

I set up a Dublin Javascript Talks board at

https://trello.com/board/dublin-javascript-talks/4f05b412cf33c09c016a90df

and seeded it to give an indication how the tool operates. If you have a
Trello account you can take a look and add your ideas to it.

Downside is that you need to have a Trello account :( But it's worth a
look. Of course, there are many other ways to approach this. BTW
Trello also has mobile access for the on-the-go coffee-drinking JS
professional :)

On the ideas: ember.js, duino.js and Nock are things I would like to try
out/know more about.

+1 for workflowy

Just signed up to workflowy - very impressed! I think I'll start integrating that into my workflow now - offline mode / sync in a mobile device would be very handy though (maybe they already have that - have not checked...)

I think it's possible to love both, in different ways :)

* Workflowy is a tool to manage big-ass lists.

* Trello is a shared information organization tool that uses lists
as its basic structure.

all good ideas. we have an abandoned shared google doc to track L.
talks but it's almost empty and both trello and workflowy sound way
cooler :P

I'll add the information in there to either trello or workflowy. I'll
try trello first only because the board is already there (cheers
Oisin!). Do we need to be invited to the board though? I don't see a
way to add myself. I'll keep trying.

cheers,
José

I made it public, so you *should* be able to add stuff to the
board without actually being added to it. But it's possible I
missed a thing. Let me know directly if you don't beat it into
submission.

BTW - is there a dublinjs irc channel?

I sussed this out - if you are a 'member' of the board, then you
can add new cards. If you are not, you can comment and vote
on the existing cards.

yeah, I can see now all the 'add' buttons but only after accepting
your invite. Can be a bit messy to have to invite people but we can
play it by ear.

José

just logged into #dublinjs in irc.freenode.net

don't know much about irc I'm afraid. will look into it. any help
appreciated!

José

thanks again to Oisin for starting this up!

We need a date for the meetup; what about Tuesday 17th? 6.30 @amworks as usual.

cheers,
José
