Hello. In my research I've found that as we age, men tend to lose high frequency acuity and women tend to lose low frequencies.  Can anyone confirm this?

I notice this when working in the studio, I usually ask for more shaker in the mix, and my younger colleagues say no! no!

Hi All,

Does anyone have a suggestion for a keepsake item or a small project that
participants can take with them after the drumming circle? The theme is
values. I've received a request for a drumming circle with a keepsake.

Hi Galit!

I did a workshop last year and asked people to fill out comment cards - I purchased 50 small stone hearts (palm sized - about $25) on Amazon and gave everyone a heart for filling out the comment card.

You could make the analogy that it’s just a rock - these are just cut and polished?

I know a lot of the promo companies will put logos on mini maracas and egg shakers if you want to spend more and have it directly related.

Hope that helps

Debi's idea made me think of this:

Preprint promo items can work for some events, such as promoting an
organization or a special day (wedding, alumni reunion, etc)

Since the theme is Values, I think having participants MAKE their own
keepsake Will be more meaningful, and more likely that they will actually
keep it and not toss it away.

So towards the end of your drumming time, while people are in the
circle, ask people to self -reflect on the experience -- is there one word
that stands out to them? Or how they are feeling? Or one word they want to
take with them?

Then invite people to a side table of supplies and invite them to write
that word (or any word of their choosing) on the rock, and they can
decorate it if they'd like

This multi-modal expressive arts experience with an artefact they are
personally creating will help solidify whatever lessons/insights you are
hoping they get from the drumming time

Custom logo Egg Shakers are super souvenirs .. easy to acquire, transport, keep available (for the crying child on the flight), distribute, percussive (duh!) and depending on logo/colors and number ordered, not that expensive. $3. to $5.+-

Carolyn Zorn loves to work with facilitators and musicians and has very good product and service. I’ve ordered thousands from her…

Would love your insight on listening activities for groups.... I've been
invited to join a panel discussion and lead a drumming activity this
evening for our local Public Broad Casting television station. They're
hosting a movie premier for an independent film called "The Tuba Thieves"

The idea is to generate some discussion on hearing loss. The film
highlights the idea that when the tuba is missing, the band doesn't sound
the same.

-- are there pitches/timbres that are more difficult to hear?
-- is it different when you can't see the sound played?
-- where in your body do you feel different sounds?
-- how do you listen with all the noise around?
-- how does volume affect the aesthetic?

What are the specific activities you might use with groups to showcase some
of these ideas?

Man thanks in advance for your sharing!
