Can you list the full command that you ran?  Can you add "-v" to the arguments to drmemory.exe and list that output?

Nevermind, I added dr memory to the execution path, and the problem disappeared.

Is $USERPROFILE/dynamorio writable?

If so, there isn't enough diagnostic output to pinpoint the problem: best to step through drmemory.exe's call to dr_register_process() in drconfiglib.dll in a debugger (drconfiglib.pdb should be there in the release package, though in a separate dir) and see where it fails.

I would like to tell that I've encountered this same issue but I was in a situation where the user profile wasn't writable. Setting the environment variable to a writable path did work for me.

Still have an internal crash of the software, this may be related to other issue with the peculiar setup I'm dealing with.
