What is Tribal Belly Dance?
A bit different from Cabaret or Egyptian belly dance, tribal belly
dance is a fusion style that takes inspiration from middle eastern
dance, flamenco, Bollywood, Romany and other dance styles to form a
folkloric dance style that belongs not to a particular time or place,
but seems to come from long ago and far away.
The dance is improvised in a group, with one person leading, cuing the
dancers who are following. Leads switch, so every woman can be a star
when she’s ready.
Costuming is half the fun, and involves long skirts, tassels, hair
falls, shells, feathers, flowers & scarves.

What do you need for class?
Wear anything you can move in, preferably a long skirt. If you have a
triangle shaped scarf, bring it to wear around your hips. We’ll have
some scarves and skirts for you to play with.
Bring a bottle of water & a good attitude!

Who are Drishti Dancers? (Well, you all know that, otherwise you
wouldn't be on our mailing list. )
Several of us have been dancing together for almost 3 years. We’ve
performed at house parties, clubs downtown, city hall, and even the
First Night parade. We’re not classically trainer dancers, but are in
it for the fun. We love dancing, and want to spread the fun to others!
