Docs on different chars while specifying thumbnail dimensions

To get the thumbnail, we can do:

avatar.thumb('200x200#').url
avatar.thumb('200x200>').url

etc...

I couldn't find the doc on the various chars (#  >  <) ? Any pointers?

It's imagemagick syntax. # means scale and crop to desired aspect. > means scale to given dimensions but preserve aspect ratio.
