Update and next meeting 10/1

A special thanks to all those who came to the Board of Estimates meeting
last Tuesday. With the help of the group we were promised an audience
with Mr. William Kunkler of Fiore Co. and Ms. Barbra Dimick, the
director of Madison Public Libraries. We plan to wow them into
understanding there is no way to build a new library downtown without
putting a community garden on the roof! Congratulations all, the
library project is coming to fruition at last.
But there is still more work to be done. We encourage everyone to go to
the website, print a few petitions, and take them to the next garden-y
event (be it a Michael Pollen talk or potato picking in the Arboretum).
We would also like to announce the next garden meeting will take place
Thursday, 10/1, at 244 West Lakelawn Place (Lothlorian Coop). Aaron has
graciously agreed to cook us all dinner, to be served at 6, with the
meeting to follow shortly there after, around 6:30. Hope to see you
there.

That's fantastic about the Board meeting. I think I can make the next meeting this upcoming Thursday. I've not been to any of the housing co-ops in Madison yet.

I belong to the Ironweed Film Club and just received a DVD with a number of recent comedic and playful feel-good short environmental films (a far cry from my usual doom-and gloom screed) under the collective title of "Earth Dance", which we could use for a feel-good film-screening fundraiser at a housing co-op or other venue if you want.
