Greetings fellow gardeners,
A friendly reminder, downtown Alder Mike Verveer has introduced an
amendment to the Capitol Budget that proposes a FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR AN
INTENSIVE COMMUNITY GARDEN AND/OR GREEN ROOF ATOP OUR NEW CENTRAL PUBLIC
LIBRARY.

This is very encouraging, the amendment has 4 co-sponsors and is budget
neutral. This means there is no monetary commitment and all we need is
the approval of 6 more members of the city council to see it though.
Ultimately to truly examine the possibility of the FIRST EVER rooftop
community garden on a public library right here in Madison.

We NEED your help. If you live downtown and would love a plot or simply
see this as a good idea please come to the budget hearing on Tuesday
November 10, 5:30PM in room 201 of the City-County Building (210 Martin
Luther King, Jr. Blvd.).

We encourage you to come and SPEAK your mind to the council during
public comment. If you're too shy or crunched for time you may
register your vote by filling out a city-provided form.

If you cannot make it to the hearing, call your alder instead.
