This is the mailing list for a new .NET user group in Sheffield. This will be a
monthly evening meetup where .NET software developers from Sheffield
and elsewhere can meet to discuss software development with .NET. The
first meeting will be on Thursday May 3rd at the GIST Lab from 19:00 –
20:45. The GIST Lab is located opposite Sheffield train station and
behind the Showroom cinema:

This new group is open to all levels of .NET user, whether you’re an
experienced developer, someone who has occasionally developed
with .NET in the past, or a .NET newbie who’d like to know more
about .NET software development. For the introductory meeting we’ll be
having a round table discussion from all meeting attendees on what
areas of .NET software development they’d like to see the group cover
in future. This group can cover any topic that is .NET-related,
whether that’s desktop development with WPF, web development, WCF,
Windows Phone development, XNA game development, functional
programming with F#, third-party tools such as NCrunch, OpenRasta,
SpecFlow, NuGet, or alternative uses of .NET like Mono on Linux,
IronPython or IronRuby.
If there are any areas of .NET that you’d like to know more about as
a .NET developer, please come along with your suggestions at the
introductory meeting. If there’s an area of .NET that you feel
knowledgeable on and would like to give a future talk on, I’ll be
looking for speakers for future meetings. Alternatively if there’s an
area of .NET that you’d like to learn and you wish to challenge
yourself by volunteering to give a talk on it at a future date, that’d
be fantastic as well. This group will be a friendly environment for
improving your .NET skills with fellow developers.
