Hi Guys,
I am wondering what we are going to do about the Spam on the Group.
I almost get spam reports daily and try to ban all those pesky Recruiters that spam the list lately.. But I am also getting really annoyed..
Most of the Spam that shows up in the groups interface doesn't even make it to my inbox since Gmail filters it immediately.. but Google Groups does not and that really annoys me..

The Group is currently configured so that new users can't post, but apparently that does nothing to prevent spam..
But I also don't want to actively moderate the group since it would only add lag to the whole process and is frustrating to users.

Also I really can't understand why on earth I have to manually delete topics even if I banned the author for spamming and nobody replied yet..

Any ideas?

greetings Daniel

Hi Daniel,

How about the "New members cannot post" option at the bottom of the new Google Groups web interface? This will prevent new users from posting, and once they post a legit post, they can be "upgraded" to full access.

It's a bit of management overhead, and it may not be worth it if the majority of people who post to this list are new users.
