I am trying to figure out how to allow users to subscribe to an Email list that is marked as "Allow Public To Subscribe".

Is there a macro of some sort to handle this? Can I use the Legacy Form Builder to create this form and then point it to a Macro? And if so, how do I subscribe this person to the appropriate list?

Any insight would be helpful, thanks.

So is there a way to allow users to subscribe to a public email list?

I'd be interested in the answer to this too.

Yes, the macro is here:

http://dotcms.com/docs/1.9/MailingListsMacro

All lists that have the "Allow Public To Subscribe" get caught by this macro and included in a little form (which you will need to style), with checkboxes and a submit button.  On submit, the macro identifies the logged in user and subscribes them to the list.

You will have to create a sign up page or something where user can supply name and email to create a generic non-permissioned user with.

On the same page you could have one widget that checks to see if the user is logged in, then call the #mailingLists() macro, if not then display the register form that creates the user... something like that.
