[dorkbotpdx-blabber] Migration is done, but you won't see it for a bit

The site has been migrated, but it will take a bit for the DNS change
to propagate. Should be another 45-50 minutes assuming all the DNS
servers between you and the dorkbotpdx.org DNS host handle the TTL
correctly. There are still a few small oddities I'm trying to figure
out, so please pardon any dust. Some of the modules we were using
didn't have upgrade paths or direct equivalents in the Drupal 6 world,
so that might be a source of some things being broken. If you see
anything in particular please let me know. I already know about some
images having gone "missing" -- that's due to the autoalias module
being gone from Drupal 6 -- the images are actually there, but the
URLs used to access them need to be updated.
I also still need to get email sending correctly on the new server. I
hadn't realized it wasn't set up correctly before and I decided that
wasn't enough of an issue to prevent moving forward. The downside is
any new accounts or password resets won't get their notifications
sent. I'm going to try and get that straightened out tomorrow, if
possible.
Thanks to NetworkRedux for donating this new hosting (we'll be adding
their logo to the site shortly) and to Cam for taking the ball on that
and running with it!

I forgot to mention: you'll know the new site is in place when you see
the old site grey change to the standard Drupal blue. Somehow I
screwed up theme when moving things over and it reverted to the
original. I'm not too concerned with it, since we're planning to
update the design at some point soon anyway.
Also, once the new site is online at dorkbotpdx.org, you'll still be
able to access the old site for a bit longer at old.dorkbotpdx.org
after I turn off the maintenance mode (which I probably won't do until
tomorrow morning). Just note that any changes you make *will* get lost
and won't be migrated over. I just wanted to make sure folks could
still access things in case something turned out to have gone AWOL in
the move.

Right, I mentioned that (thought not calling out your pictures
specifically) in my first email. The reason for that, as far as I can
tell, is that a module that was available in Drupal 5 is no longer
available in Drupal 6 -- it provided the nice URL aliases for nodes
within Drupal. The images appear to still be there, but the nice names
aren't currently working. I haven't had time to go through and track
all of them down, but if no one else is able to soon, I will hopefully
be able to do it this weekend. Sorry for any confusion or frustration
this might be causing.

Hey Ward,
just wanted to let you know I fixed the images on about half of your
posts. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out exactly how to get the
link style originally used to work, so I've just been having to go
through each one individually and relink the images. I spent a couple
hours trying to figure it out, but this seems to work, so... hopefully
it's not too frustrating. If time permits, I'll finish relinking the
images tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have some other work I need to get
done, so we'll see. Perhaps one of our other site admins (ahem! you
know how you are!) can help out here. :)

Thomas -- I'm not enthusiastic about the proposed change. I bothered to size all of the images so that they centered nicely and didn't overlap margin content. For example, in the sample I cited below I wrote:
[[Image:Pingdom Downtime History|center|350x175px|]]
which has been replaced with:
[img_assist|nid=910|title=Pingdom Downtime History|desc=|link=node|width=|height=0]
I'm guessing the width and height parameters might solve my immediate problem if the size information could be carried over from my original work. Are you suggesting I do this? Am I an admin?
I don't quite get where the nid=910 comes from either.
I appreciate the service that you and other dorkbot folks have provided for me throughout my year of documenting Txtzyme. Thank you. I also understand that software systems move on and dragging lots of content forward is a pain in the butt. I'm sorry to have to ask your help saving my work. I'd be happy to take a zip of text and images if that were simpler for you.

Sorry about that one -- it was the first one I attempted to fix and
apparently I made a mistake on it and missed it in my exhaustion last
night. I've fixed it. The others I did get resolved should all be
correctly set up with an accurate height and width and correctly
centered. I'll look over them again today to make sure as I circle
back to try and get more of the old ones (and a handful I have to
recover images for) fixed.
I'm hoping one of the others who helps admin the site can help me
figure out why the old tag format is no longer working -- all the
modules that appear to be needed are there, but I also couldn't find
any other posts using that same format, so I'm not really clear what
happened. Unfortunately, I'm not a Drupal expect by any means. But if
we can figure that out, I'll go back and grab the previous style tags
and replace them.
As for that nid you asked about -- that's the internal Drupal node ID.
The way I "fixed" these was to go through, find the old images and
then use the "plus" icon below the text entry box, which allows you to
browse through the images and find the one you want. It will then
prompt for various settings. I did this with the old site side-by-side
so I could check the previous settings (height, width, alignment,
etc.) and restore them as you originally had them. It builds that tag
from the selections. It took me a couple tries to figure it all out,
though, so I apologize if I missed a few cases.
As I said, I'm still hoping to figure out why the other tags stopped
working. We did do a full version upgrade on Drupal, which was far
past time to be necessary. We were still on version 5 and most of the
modules we had installed were not being maintained anymore for that
version. Unfortunately, while the upgrade went smoothly, there were
still hiccups -- some of which we're still finding out about. I
appreciate everyone's patience.
