Ok, so I've got an HP 17" LCD monitor that's 3-4 years old or so, and
recently it started giving me issues. I'm using a double-monitor
configuration and the right monitor would "blank" and I couldn't get
it back. I'd mess with the settings and it'd work for a week or two
until it would happen again.
Eventually it stopped coming back to life. You can see it's getting a
signal, but the monitor stays blank. If you power-cycle it, you'll
see an image for 2-3 seconds before it turns off.
Sound like an easy fix? Maybe, I dunno. I need another project like
I need a larger, rounder hole in my head. I just need the screen
space.
I realized I hadn't bought a new monitor in over 20 years and blew
$129 (that's US dollars even!) for a 21.5" 1920x1080 monitor and can't
believe how much better it looks. So much better that I'm about ready
to "accidently" damage my remaining 17" LCD and be forced to replace
it too. The horror!
Anyways I'll bring this HP f1703 17" LCD w/ power supply, VGA cable,
and DVI adapter to tomorrow's meeting if anyone wants it.
But I'm old, fat, and lazy (especially lazy, but did I mention fat?)
and would rather not drag it there unless someone wants to give it a
new home (if you just want the cable, adapter, and power suppy fine
but please dispose of the LCD properly - you gotta take it all).
Well... unless Paul doesn't mind me stuffing it in the free parts box? Not!
Please let me know and you too can be the new owner of some fine,
marginally functional, kinda-vintage hardware for a very fine price.
As always, the fine print: first come, first served. Begging doesn't
help, but might be fun to watch. Objects may be be closer than they
appear. Your mileage may vary. Don't taunt happy fun ball.
Regards,
Brad.
