$1,000 grants available for AWESOME ideas
Awesome Portland, a new grassroots foundation, invites you to join our quest to make the city an even more fun, artsy, and innovative place to live.
Do you have a great, low-cost idea that will energize people, generate creativity, inspire laughter, produce amazement or bring people together? Submit your ideas to the Awesome Portland website (awesomeportland.org ) by completing a very simple application process. We've funded several enviro-conscious projects so far, which is great. Now, we'd like to get back to the original Awesome concept, envisioned by several MIT grads (many of whom are connected to dorkbot) that wanted to fund technology related projects. We want to hear from you. Our next grant will be awarded on January 17th and we usually invite our 5 finalists to give a live 3 minute pitch of their project in front of a live audience. We'll be handing out a 1k award and a smaller 'People's Choice' prize.
Awesome Portland is a group of locals that love our city. We donate $100 every couple months to collectively award 1000 bucks to a project that inspires us. We're looking for that original, whimsical, fun, impactful idea that elicits a "WOW. That's AWESOME!" response from us. We’ll fund anything from public art to flame throwers (and robots. I want robots)! And did I mention there's no strings attached?
