forms/fields/widgets - howto contribute?

recently i'm having a lot of issues with forms, mostly when creating
custom widgets.
while trying to create custom widgets i've found myself repeatedly
reading forms/admin widgets source so i've figured i could try to get
involved to improve this issue.

is somebody working on widgets docs/guides/tutorials and similar improvements?
i've tried searching through tickets but didn't find anything related
except some tickets to enhance default widgets.

i can try working on docs, test stuff or any other task but i need
some guidance and somebody to report to.
would appreciate any help/directions

Hi Aljosa,

There may very well be tickets in our ticket system devoted to this,
so try to search through there to find existing stuff. If you can't
find anything and are willing to start writing, that would be
fantastic, and I can serve as your "person to report to." When you
have something, post it as a patch to a ticket (either an existing one
or a new one that you'll create), and post an update to this thread so
that I'm notified in case I missed the ticket.
