As I understand it, OSM consists of two overlapping populations and a
database. One population defines and publicizes research questions.
The second cruises these lists looking for proposals of interest.
When
they find one they volunteer to gather the desired data from their
own
bodies in return for access to the results. Results end up in the
database,
available to all and especially to succeeding researchers.
Sound good, but are there any actual OSM research projects underway.
Is anybody even prototyping the core data management issues???
