Looking for a few people interested in doing a simple microbiology project. Description below. Open to all levels of people, looking for no more than 6 people. Good way to get hands-on with microbiology and molecular biology.
Project: Isolating amp-resistant GFP-carrying e. coli
I recently did a transformation and I now have a plate of a mixure of green GFP-carrying e. coli and wild-type e coli. This project is centred around growing up a pure culture of of GFP+ e. coli, and then extracting both the fluorescent pigment, and the plasmid DNA. Depending on how many people we get, I estimate the cost/person will be somewhere around $30-50 to get the project done. Will cover topics such as aseptic technique, recombinant plasmid DNA and microbiology techniques.
