Hi all. I was making a reorganized version of the DR25/3rd edition rulebook for a friend (the same one in the files section labelled DR2C Basic Rules), as the initial one is rather haphazard and has a lot of errata besides. However, when I was consulting what I understand to be the errata for the Basic Rules, I kept coming across corrections to passages that don't exist. For example, the errata has this note:
Pg 10, Modifying the Combat Roll (Odds), Example 3
Correction: "…but they still get the -1 penalty."
There's no such passage to correct in my version of the Basic Rulebook, on page 10 or anywhere. In my Basic Rulebook that section is on page 15, and example 3 is worded differently. It says:
EXAMPLE 3: 8 units attack 9. Dividing the larger by the smaller
number, we have 9/8=1.125 to 1. The fraction is rounded UP
because the attacking force is smaller, meaning that the one is
added to the attacker’s combat die roll and two is added to the
defender’s roll.
Similarly, there's this passage in the Basic Rulebook:
For players familiar with the earlier editions of DIVINE RIGHT, it is important to remember that the "zone of siege" procedure previously used has been replaced by the new system given below. Read the following rules carefully. Although the official rules mention a "zone of siege" and even show diagrams, they were included in error. Ignore them.]
Fine, but the errata then has:
Pg 9, Zones of Control
Correction: "Unlike many other games, units in Divine Right do not have zones of control, except in the sense that enemy fleets control all adjacent navigable river hex sides and land units control adjacent spaces during Sieges (See Zone of Siege)."
The errata presumably came out after, but here we have the errata talking about something the rulebook says you should have tossed.
So do I have the right Basic Rulebook and right errata? I'd just assume I've made a mistake and have the wrong errata, but both the rulebook and the errata have a big 25th anniversary graphic right at the start. I'm not looking for other versions besides the official rules and official errata for that version.
Thanks for helping me untangle this.
