Subject: drawings+video: pepsi character designs

Don't have to read all the text; scroll down to see all the different
iterations of the character designs -- the very bottom has the video of the
actual pepsi commercial. Kinda neat how they
rotoscoped<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotoscope#Technique>the actors
so that they look like the designs. Technique is similar to that
used in A Scanner
Darkly<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Scanner_Darkly_%28film%29>.
(Never watched it, but you can see the trailer
here<http://www.apple.com/trailers/warner_independent_pictures/ascannerdar...>
.)

Unfortunately, these characters are profoundly one-dimensional. I guess
that's okay for a commercial, but can you imagine if they were in a feature
film? Perhaps in a comedy (read: satire)... I can only imagine the whole
premise of such movie to be based on the Scissors guy: "Why can't I ever
beat Rock? I *know* he's going to throw out his fist! And yet.. and yet, I'm
always compelled to throw scissors. I do not understand what I do. For what
I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do..." That might be funny...
for about a good three minutes.
