Hello,

what is the purpose or reason of the red dotted vertical line during analyzing I/O stat ?

sometimes they are visible, but sometimes not.

attached is a screenshot.

Thank you ... Nick

hello nick

it is because you have missed some collect points

you can get ride of thesse red lines using an average of values instead of all the values

hope this is clear enough

Hi Nick,

I'd not call such a graph "as expected"...
The goal of the red lines is to mark any drops discovered within
collected data (for ex. when there was a reboot on the server, or
collect was stopped then restarted, etc.).. It may also happen to stat
command which become "out of sync" over a time, so we have to restart
them and jump to the right time period..

But it's not expected to be seen very often and too closely in a time period :-)
and in your case it rather looks like "sd5" data are simply missed
time to time... - so I may suppose you're collecting IO stats data
with "Active Only" option (available only on Solaris, but from your
previous messages I may suppose you're continuing with Solaris 11
;-))), so when "sd5" is not active - you're getting holes within your
stats.. (and then it's as expected)..

Rgds,
-Dimitri
