Kia ora koutou,
We have recently reviewed and updated the DigitalNZ Developer API
Terms and the Metadata Contribution Terms (for DigitalNZ content
partners).
The terms needed updating to reflect the fact that the National
Library (where DigitalNZ is based) is now part of the Department of
Internal Affairs. We also took the opportunity to make some
improvements to the API terms. In particular, we wanted to include a
provision to allow temporary caching of metadata. This change consult
with all of our content partners. We completed this process just
before Christmas.
So we're really happy to confirm that from the 31st of January 2012
new Developers' API Terms (
http://www.digitalnz.org.nz/about/terms-of-
use/new-terms#api ) will be in place and these do allow you to cache
the metadata for up to 30 days. There are a few other updates also.
For example, we've been a bit clearer about how content items should
be attributed. We strongly recommend that you to review the new terms
so that you're familiar with them.
If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to contact us,
TL;DR: New DigitalNZ terms take effect on Jan 31, 2012, Among other
changes, developers can cache metadata for up to 30 days.
All the best,
Chris McDowall
