Hi all,
can anyone explain what "view_count" is exactly referring to? clicks
on the "link" or "href"?

Hi Mark, I'm unclear the difference between a link and href. The
view_count refers to how many people viewed that story on Digg. By
viewed, I mean went to the article.

Oops, I understand. It is how many people clicked through to the
'link' not the 'href'. Href is the permalink story page, which there
is not metric of how many pageviews that gets in the API.
