Hi!

I agree with you, that, while useful most of the time, the 'infinite scroll' behavior is not the most practical if there is a footer with links and other actions.

But since there is nothing broken technically, please understand that this is an issue that has low-priority to fix.
I wholeheartedly invite anyone that has a little javascript mojo and who is willing to do something about this issue, to take a stab at it, and offer my help to anyone who might be interested to do so.
So, feel free to contact me privately via eMail or raven24 on #diaspora IRC about working on this
;)

P.S: I could imagine a solution, where it loads twice or thrice, then it stops and you are presented a possibility to 'load more', which then goes to infinity and beyond.

Hi, guys.

I'm a long time fan of the project's concept (although I must confess I've never used it much - which is about to change), That being said, I'd like to warn you about following what others are doing. The main problem with that is you may end up following a wrong trend and that's exactly what I've realized when I was visiting the joindiaspora.com website today;

You guys implemented what's being called "the infinite scrollbar", or some other cool name like that, meaning that once you reach the page's bottom it automatically loads more content so you can keep scrolling - you guessed - indefinitely. Problem is you ended up implemented the same error a lot of sites did, which is keeping a footer at the page that can "never" be reached: once you hit it more content is loaded and the footer gets pushed down, making the task of clicking a footer link a virtually impossible one.

I completely agree that diaspora must keep itself fresh and current, but watching a feature being implemented along with it's conceptual errors is painful.This may sound like overreacting, but I just like the project too much to let it slide and I think that if "we" don't keep an eye on something that it's simple in one case, it might spread to more serious issues.

Hope this didn't sounded too harsh (wasn't my intention) and neither like "a slap in the wrist" (I'm in no position to do so, we all make mistakes), I just want the best for the project.

Thanks,
