A friend of mine from way back when when I used to work at a local golf course.
I also gave him golf and life lessons during the sessions.

Anyway, another success story if you ask me.

Thought I would share it with those of us that either need to be reminded or have a target audience you would like to
market toward.

Tommy,

Got your wall post - thought to send you an email. Basically, in corporate America, the main motivation is money. I have no problem with money.. I have some, and would like some more. However, people will sell each other out, cut quality, and generally be disingenuous is the pursuit of said money.

I've worked for two large corporations, and for a Big 4 professional services firm. I've seen a lot. Its amazing how many times I've seen people stab someone in the back, or threaten the loss of a bonus or even a job if something didn't get done on time (even when there were extenuating circumstances like a death in the family). Corporations talk a big deal about diversity, but in the end they want everyone acting and doing the same thing. WTF?

I've had enough. When I worked at Ash Brook, I was dirt poor, and all I wanted to do was make money. But, I turned around and realized I was happier when I was had less. When I was a kid, I never thought I would be a corporate sellout. Believe me.. regardless of what someone may tell you, when you work for a corporation, you are a complete sellout. Its hard not to be because the $$ is there as long as you play the game and, more importantly, play by their rules.

I was telling Harry that I started my own business, and plan to work about 5-6 months a year. I make 1/3 of what I was making before, but I'm a lot happier because I'm not aligned with all that crap anymore. My mortgage is paid for, and we have a decent amount of $ in the bank. Now's the time to live for me.

Lots more to say, but I took a tree down yesterday and I need to split and stack it.

Nice Tp,

Nice story.

I see that as part of an upcoming trend.

Boomers seeking something REAL, after having sold out.

I know I can deliver "depth".

The question, how will it get packaged.

Guess I'll find out.

Tell us more if you would.

I'm in...

I could always put you in touch with my friend, Twenty.
I've know him for over Twenty years and used to give golf lessons to him.

The funny thing is...

He didn't start out as a sell out.
I believe he wanted to become a millionaire but hey...
so do I.

The question is...

How could we package it.

Ha ha ha.

Just trying to ride those coat tails of your Twenty.

I see doing something corporate.
I see doing something in a group.
I see products...lots of products and affiliates.

I will ask Pete if he would speak to you if you like.

I believe he is off working these days.

TP,

Thanks for sharing. My dad was like that. Finally quit his C-level
job because he wouldn't follow boss' orders to cheat on the taxes.

TT,

Re-check those early business posts and the email... ;)

I think you already have much of the material, it's just not packaged
right for the baby-boomer corporate retirees.

You can go on your own, you can invite others, you can allow yourself
to be invited.

Just be careful in that $10,000/ person sweat lodge, eh?

I have a wonderful image of this man (and the rest of you) living off the land and pioneering a new way of life out there in corporate America.

Me?

I am busy saving the planet from plastic :-)
