Dear Friends,

Warm greetings from back in the Awakening Forest, after a good and special time at Wat Buddhanusorn in Fremont this past week.

I want to thank all of the friends who stopped by the wat while we were there, offering meal dana, flowers, useful supplies for the hermitage, support for our sangha, kind words, thoughts and actions... It was a time abundantly filled with generosity and kindness - two of the great and beautiful strengths of Thai Buddhism.

I especially want to thank the elder venerable bhikkhus Ajahn Maha Prasert and Ajahn Maha Somchai who shared so much in Dhamma and the heart of this path with our new (and older) bhikkhunis and with all of us during this time.  I also want to thank the community of friends and relatives that has supported the wat over the years, making it a place of refuge and sanctuary, meditation and Dhamma, with its doors open to the entire greater community.  Spending hours in its main hall, its doors open from 6 am to 9 pm every day, one can see Hindu, Sikh, Christian and even Muslim neighbors coming into its space of sanctuary, together with the very many Asian Buddhist friends of so many nationalities coming for cultivating their practice of dana (generosity), sila (ethical integrity) and bhavana (meditation), together with listening to, inquiring into and reflecting on the Dhamma the Buddha taught.  I greatly appreciate that this is possible here in the USA and here in our part of it, in Northern California.

With much loving kindness
to All ~

Ayya Tathaaloka

Warm greetings in Dhamma from the beauty and freshness of the coastal mountain forest, dear Friends,

I am writing to let you know Ven Ayya Sobhana, Ven Marajina, Ven Nibbida and I will be back in Fremont on the 21st and 22nd for a special 2-day training retreat for our new Bhikkhunis' further education, comfort and familiarity with the ways of the Thai Buddhist community and temple/monastery life. Elder Bhikkhu Venerables Ajahn Maha Prasert and Ajahn Maha Somchai will kindly be offering teaching, with my support.

We will arrive in Fremont on the evening of the 20th and depart back to our hermitage on the 23rd morning. The 21st and 22nd we plan to be at Wat Buddhanusorn all day.

If you or friends have any supplies you wish to send to the hermitage, these may be brought to the Wat. If you wish to stop in to say hello, the best times would be around the public lunch Dana time (11:30 am) or after, or after the public evening chanting and meditation (7-8 pm). There will be public Dhamma reflection and discussion time both evenings after the evening chanting and meditation.

With love and kindness,

Ayya Tathaaloka
