Dear friends,
This weekend we are privileged to participate in a number of special events. First of all, on the evening of Friday, May 3, Ayya Sobhana is generously offering us a dhamma talk at my home in Fremont. The topic of the talk will be, "Becoming Skillful with Emotions the Buddha's Way." Details are below:
DATE: Friday, May 3
PLACE: 2107 Kalenda Cmn, Fremont
TIME: 7:30-9:00 pm
Please e-mail or phone me if you need additional directions. I look forward to seeing you.
In addition, you are invited to participate in a special event at the Peace Pagoda on Sunday, May 5. The Interfaith Women for Peace is a group of women from a diversity of faiths, including Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism. They meet each month to share about common concerns and learn about the many spiritual practices in the Tri Cities area. This month, the meeting will be at the Peace Pagoda and you are invited to attend. Ayya Sobhana and Ven. Hanh Tri will be presenting a talk about Buddhism. Venerable Hanh Tri has graciously organized a meal for all to share. Here is a tentative schedule:
11:45 Arrival for those joining for lunch.
12:00 Vietnamese style meal offered by the Peace Pagoda
2:15 Arrival for those attending the presentation
2:30 Presentation on Buddhism by Ven. Hanh Tri Bhikshuni and Ven. Sobhana Bhikkhuni. 45 minutes followed by discussion.
If you wish to partake of a wonderful Vietnamese lunch,
please RSVP to
dhamma...@googlegroups.com as soon as possible so that we can notify Venerable Hanh Tri about how many of us to expect.
There are a few parking spots at the Peace Pagoda, but otherwise you will need to park on the street. There is also a nearby public park with parking that would require you to walk about 4 blocks.
The Peace Pagoda is located at:
37538 2nd St. (Niles District)
Fremont, CA 94536
I am truly looking forward to this exciting event. It will be a learning opportunity for all of us and a chance to meet some extraordinary women.
Much metta to all,
