Dear Friends of the Sangha,
As you know, medicine is one of the four monastic requisites (of robes, almsfood, shelter, medicine). It is thus also one of the four main kinds of material expressions of generosity.
In the Buddhist Vinaya Texts, the Buddha is quoted as saying:
"If you would care for me; care for the sick and suffering."
Some may remember other wise ones over the ages also speaking so caringly and encouragingly to those who loved them. All of us of Dhammadharini would like to express our tremendous gratitude to all those of you who have contributed to monastic medical care and expenses during these past 5 years, particularly:
- All those who contributed to the fund for Sr Suvijjana's health care during her bout with severe anemia during the past 5 months
- The office of Dr Rabin Khetrapal, doctor of Internal Medicine in Fremont, for offering complementary services for monastics over the past 6 years
- The dental offices of Dr Maung Maung Taw in Milpitas, for offering complimentary monastic dental care over the past 3 years
- The Medicine Buddha Healing Center of Berkeley and Ayurvedic doctor Ven Losang Jinpa, for offering complimentary Ayurvedic monastic medical consultation and herbal medicine over the past 3 years
- Sebastapol Community Acupuncture for offering
complimentary monastic medical acupuncture treatment for monastics
- Certified Massage Therapist Sarita, Applied Integrated Body Worker Jackie Barnes-Nako and Core-Energetics Healer Desda Zuckerman for their offering of their professional skills and services on numerous occassions
- Liz Crisp for her donation of extended chiropractic care and Jacquline Kramer for her regular donation of natural medicines for immune support
- Friends who have regularly or at some time offered rides to monastics for medical appointments
- The recent donor/s of Alliance for Bhikkhunis monastic medical fund that is currently providing group medical insurance for several bhikkhunis
- All those who have financially contributed to medical care, offered medicines, ect. to our women's monastic community over the past five years
- All those who have offered medical care and assistance to any living being/s throughout time
Thank you!!
You are wonderful examples to all of us. It is truly good when human beings care well for one another. We rejoice in your merit and the goodness of your hearts.
We wish you wellness, happiness, peacefulness and ease. May you find the perfect peace.
From All of Dhammadharini
