as the weather turns much colder here in the mountain forest with rain on the way,
Our bhikkhuni venerables will be away for a Bhikkhuni Ordination and Sangha Gathering this week, departing very early morning Monday the 22nd and returning late on Saturday the 27th. Samaneri Santacari will remain at our hermitage as caretaker during this time, hopefully with the blessings of quiet retreat time in solitude.
The bhikkhuni ordination -- in which our samaneri friends Sr Santussika, Sr Dipa and Sr Dhammadhira will request the Bhikkhuni Upasampada together with Sr Chandra -- will be held on the 22nd at Dharmavijaya Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles with the leadership of the Venerable Walpola Piyananda Mahathera and Venerable Peligoda Sudarshana Theri.
The 18th Annual Western Buddhist Monastic Conference/Gathering is hosted this year by Deer Park Monastery in Escondido, with monastics from around the USA participating. Deer Park was founded by the Venerable Buddhist master Thich Naht Hahn. The Gathering will last from the 22nd to 26th. Ayya Tathaaloka will be offering a presentation, and our Ayyas Tathaaloka, Sudinna, Gunasari, Satima, Sobhana, Thanasanti, Suvijjana, Anandabodhi, Santacitta and Pasada (hopefully together with a few new Theravada bhikkhunis ;) will be participating, alongside with with female and male monastics of various Buddhist traditions.
In accordance with Vinaya, our hermitage monastics are planned to be back at the hermitage within 7 days, returned to our Aranya Bodhi Hermitage on the 28th of October. We plan to all be here for Kathina Day :), and will share news with you on return.
Blessings and Metta to All,
Aranya Bodhi Sangha
